Love + Chew Brands was founded by yogi & former tech employee Lauren Chew in 2019 after she transitioned to a plant-based lifestyle. We bake clean label, plant-based protein cookies that you will find on supermarket retail shelves, Amazon and other e-comm platforms, and in various corporate cafeterias, pantries, micro markets, and gift boxes.  We’re on the shelves of major retailers, including Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, and Costco as well as numerous independent retailers. Our goal is to make plant-based foods accessible, tasty and sustainable. A portion of our proceeds go to support local organizations, such as Oasis for Girls in San Francisco. Position Description:
Love + Chew Brands is seeking an Operations Associate + Bookkeeper with CPG experience to join our small, fully remote, team.  You have a sense of urgency, can make decisions quickly, and like to get things done.  You are a team player and are willing to work outside of our job description. The successful candidate will manage daily accounting operations, provide budgeting and financial modeling, and will be a key player in defining business strategy. This is a full-time remote position reporting directly to the Director of Operations and CEO. This role requires full availability during working hours, including communications via Slack, Email, Phone Call, Text, and Video Chat.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Manages accounting operations through QuickBooks Online and ensures all financial information is properly captured and categorized, including transactional bookkeeping and classifications in QuickBooks Online
  • Provides reports to the CEO on the working capital needs of the business, which includes analysis of current assets and liabilities, inventory, and cash – with the goal to optimize cash flow
  • Financial Reporting: Manages month-end close process to issue timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, and necessary corporate reports. Such corporate reports may be initiated in QuickBooks Online, and further analysis will be required in Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides. Assist in Budgeting process and prepare Budget-To-Actuals reports in QuickBooks Online.
  • Trade Analysis & Deductions Management: Tracks and analyzes the effectiveness of trade promotions. Manages deductions and disputes with distributors
  • Strategic Support: Identifies opportunities to improve profitability through appropriate customer, product, and cost reporting. Assists with ad hoc analysis and reports to drive sales & profitability
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Supports various tax requirements including payroll employer tax, sales and use tax, etc.
  • Support the Director of Operations through:
    • Be taught the Request for Proposal process for Vendors – including, for Ingredients, Packaging, 3PL's, freight – and manage the communications and organize the proposals
    • Manage freight in and freight out amongst baking facility, 3PL’s and customers
    • Communicate shipping delays to customers and answer customer questions
    • Receive sales and volume data and create monthly sales reports and communicate to Love+Chew Team
    • Implement standard operating procedures, and assist Director of Operations, CEO, and Consultants to streamline processes.
    • Identify operational bottlenecks and suggest solutions to enhance workflow.
    • Manage Key Performance Indicators via spreadsheet analysis and share with Team Members
    • Custom reporting using data from vendors and customers, including assisting with Selling Activities
    • Communication internally and externally as needed. 

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience and 2+ years of food and beverage experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, extensive QuickBooks experience, and strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Proven experience in driving process improvement; analytical and problem-solving skills imperative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience working with senior leadership
  • Detail oriented multi-tasker suited to working in fast-paced environment for fast-growing small business
  • Ability to work in a task-based environment and take direction, but also capable and willing to spearhead initiatives and perform out of self-motivation
  • Comfortable working remotely utilizing shared documents, zoom, slack, asana, and other tools to stay connected and work as a team

  • Work Hours: 8am-5pm PST
