While the initial hype around ChatGPT may have subsided, it’s still very much a thing. As the creator economy continues to grow, we’re eager to ask the popular AI chatbot more questions about the space.

We asked, “What are the top creator brands?” and ChatGPT seemed to avoid pointing to specific companies. Instead, it referenced platforms that creators use to expand their reach.

Here’s how it responded:

ChatGPT’s introduction to its answer was, “As of my last training cut-off in September 2021, several creator-centric brands and platforms have gained significant recognition. The term ‘creator brands’ can be a bit ambiguous, but I’ll list some of the top brands and platforms that have been known to support individual creators, especially in the realms of content creation, social media, and e-commerce.”

Then it listed off the platforms:

YouTube – The original giant in video content creation, YouTube has remained an influential platform for creators around the world.

TikTok – With its short-form video content, TikTok has given rise to a new generation of creators and influencers.

Patreon – A platform that allows creators to earn a regular income from their fans or patrons.

Twitch – Predominantly for gamers, Twitch allows streaming of gameplay and has also expanded into other areas of content creation.

Substack – A platform that allows writers to monetize newsletters and reach their audience directly.

OnlyFans – Known primarily for adult content, but also used by a variety of creators to offer exclusive content to subscribers.

Shopify – While not limited to “creators” in the content sense, Shopify has empowered many individuals to set up their own e-commerce shops and brands.

Gumroad – A platform that facilitates the sale of digital products, from e-books to software.

Teachable and Udemy – Platforms that allow creators to build and sell their own courses.

Etsy – For artisans and crafters, Etsy has been a primary platform to sell their handmade goods.

Medium – A platform for writers to share their work and also potentially earn from it.

Clubhouse – An audio-based social network where users can host and join different chat rooms, discussing various topics.

ChatGPT concluded by stating, “This is by no means an exhaustive list, and the importance and relevance of these platforms can change rapidly due to shifts in user preferences, technological advancements, and market dynamics. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on emerging platforms and trends in the creator economy to see which brands or platforms are on the rise.”

This interaction is an example of how AI isn’t fully there yet when it comes to answering questions — especially those about the booming creator economy. While the information was interesting in its own right, it didn’t fully touch on the full scope of the question that was asked.

With that said, we’re only at the beginning of an AI revolution, and it’ll be interesting to see how it impacts the business world and the creator space.
