SUMMARY
The Sales Representative is responsible for effectively representing Hood River Distillers, Inc. and achieving sales objectives within the assigned territory.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Expectations
·         Execute established KPI programs involving, but not limited to, volume, distribution, displays, shelf management, merchandising and features that align with company sales targets. 
·         Present the entire portfolio and current programs to generate maximum dollar and case sales.
·         Utilize in-depth knowledge of the features and benefits of HRD products and programs, making comparisons to competition and the market environment to enhance sales. 
·         Obtain appropriate distribution and share of business within all off and on-premise accounts.
Territory Planning
·         Plan, organize, and control the execution of HRD sales and consumer marketing plans to on and off-premise customers.
·         Know and analyze the HRD portfolio, accounts, and competitive conditions within the assigned territory.
·         Follow an identified efficient route pattern to ensure assigned accounts are serviced.
·         Identify opportunity accounts and conduct sales presentations to create incremental sales. 
·         Execute measurable sales and merchandising objectives for the territory and key accounts.
·         Prepare professional sales presentations tailored to customer needs.
·         Work within an assigned budget. 
Selling
·         Cover the state of Idaho with targeted accounts across Southwestern Idaho (65% of time), Northern Idaho (25% of time), and Eastern Idaho (10% of time). The route and time spent in each area is subject to change as the market evolves. 
·         Know the features and benefits of supplier products and programs compared to competition.
·         Execute sales efforts to gain new distribution, displays, features, and on-premise promotions.
·         Develop positive customer relationships in both on and off-premise sectors.
·         Present the complete portfolio and current programs to generate maximum sales volume.
·         Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages.  
Merchandising
 
·         Gain and build displays and other promotional support in accounts.
·         Achieve effective presentation of HRD brands to the consumer in accounts.
·         Utilize and maintain clean, current point-of-sale material in high visibility locations.
·         Educate consumers on HRD history, quality products, and programs.
Servicing
·         Make complete sales calls to every on and off-premise account.
·         Follow up on prior commitments for service and support.
·         Facilitate the customer’s efforts to effectively buy HRD products.
·         Ensure pricing accuracy.
·         Call on accounts with a frequency appropriate to their HRD volume and sales opportunity. 
Communication
·         Serve as an information resource for HRD and a conduit between the field and management.
·         Communicate information and recommendations to sales manager.
·         Provide management with specific, current information on market problems, opportunities, and results.
·         Submit required reports promptly and accurately.
·         Maintain well-organized inventories of sales tools and merchandising materials.
·         Follow HRD policies and procedures.
Marketing Events and Promotions
·         Function as the liaison between the marketing team and the field.
·         Assist in the communication process to ensure promotion success and targeted results.
·         Assist the marketing team at sponsored events in your territory by samplings/selling bottles at HRD designated booths or tents.

QUALIFICATIONS
·         Four-year college degree preferred or equivalent outside sales/restaurant management experience.
·         Strong computer skills, familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office. VIP knowledge and/or CRM experience is a plus.
·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, budgets, and government regulations.
·         Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
·         Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages, and to apply concepts to practical applications.
·         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
·         A vehicle is required to perform job functions and personal liability insurance must be maintained. 

LICENSING
·         This position requires a valid driver’s license to be maintained.  Review and monitoring of violations will be conducted to ensure safety and job effectiveness. 
·         Must possess or have the ability to obtain an Alcohol Seller-Server permit from your state.

TRAVEL
  • Day and overnight travel required. Expected 5 days/month in Northern Idaho and 2 days/month in Eastern Idaho, supported by T&E budget. The route and time spent in each area is subject to change as the market evolves.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
·         Regularly required to talk or hear.
·         Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms.
·         Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and taste or smell.
·         Must regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds.
·         Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
·         Work environment will vary and can include but is not limited to offices, liquor stores, restaurants, bars, warehouses, indoor and outdoor events, varying weather conditions, crowds, and non-public venues.
·         Sales Representatives will likely be exposed to cigarette smoke, loud music, boisterous crowds, and people who have consumed varying amounts of alcohol.
·         The typical noise level is average but can be loud. 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
·         This is a full-time, salaried position with the expectation of working a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. Workdays can include evenings and weekends and may be irregular.  Standard company workdays and hours are M-F 8am-5pm.

·         Home base must be in Boise, ID area.
