The Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center offers a variety of experiences, including distillery and ATV tours, mixology classes, single barrel selection experiences, and guided tastings of Hard Truth spirits. This 21-and-older venue also boasts a full bar serving cocktails and tasting flights, Hard Truth merchandise, and a bottle shop featuring our complete range of spirits for carryout, alongside sister-brand Quaff ON! beer available for package and growler carryout.
Position Overview:
Hard Truth Distilling Co. is seeking a dynamic and customer-centric Assistant Manager for our Tours and Tastings Center. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to collaborate closely with the General Manager, enhance the overall visitor experience, manage staff, and contribute to the achievement of business objectives. This role requires expertise in tour presentation, whiskey knowledge, customer engagement, sales, operational efficiency, event coordination, and safety compliance.
Assistant Manager Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Engagement:
- Greet and interact with visitors, providing exceptional hospitality and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Cultivate relationships with guests to encourage repeat visits and build brand loyalty.
- Address visitor inquiries promptly, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all guests.
Tour Presentation Skills:
- Confidently lead engaging and informative tours, sharing the history, production process, and unique qualities of our whiskey.
- Tailor presentations to diverse groups, ensuring each tour is a unique and memorable experience.
Whiskey Knowledge:
- Possess a deep understanding of whiskey varieties, flavor profiles, and pairing suggestions.
- Assist guests in selecting products that align with their preferences, enhancing their tasting experience.
Sales and Upselling Expertise:
- Promote products during tastings and tours, highlighting unique offerings and value propositions.
- Drive revenue by effectively recommending tasting packages, merchandise, and special events.
Operational Efficiency:
- Oversee tour schedules, manage guest flow, and maintain a clean and professional environment.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations, including scheduling and inventory management.
Event and Experience Coordination:
- Support private bookings and corporate events, offering tailored whiskey-tasting experiences.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance promotional efforts and develop special offerings.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all activities comply with alcohol-serving laws and company policies.
- Promote responsible consumption and maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
Staff Management & Development:
- Supervise and train staff members, fostering a positive and cohesive work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and ensure team alignment.
- Provide guidance to staff on effective sales techniques and product knowledge.
Collaboration with Management:
- Work closely with the General Manager to develop and implement operational procedures.
- Contribute to the achievement of business objectives through strategic planning and execution.
Assistant Manager Qualifications:

Minimum of 1+ years in a supervisory role within a bar, restaurant, or tourism environment. - Knowledge of brewing and distillation processes is a significant plus.
- Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated capacity to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with guests and staff.
- Sales acumen with the ability to upsell products and experiences.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must have or the ability to obtain a Liquor Permit in the state of Indiana.
