Disability Pride Month, observed annually in July, is a time to honor and celebrate the achievements, talents, and contributions of individuals with disabilities. It’s also an opportunity to promote inclusivity and advocate for equal rights and opportunities.

In recent years, several forward-thinking wine, beer, and spirits brands have emerged, actively working to embrace diversity, break down barriers, and celebrate disability pride. These innovative companies are redefining the landscape of the beverage industry while championing inclusivity.

Explore some innovative beverage brands that are making a positive impact.

Beyond Distilling Company

Charleston, S.C.-based Beyond Distilling Company specializes in craft spirits such as bourbon, rum, and gin including coconut and other tropical flavors. With a social and environmentally-conscious vision, the distillery aims to provide fulfilling employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. To celebrate Disability Pride Month, the company partnered with nonprofit Be the Change Charleston and hosted its first Employment through Empowerment Celebration.

Brewability Lab

Brewability Lab is an innovative craft brewery and pizzeria based in Englewood, Colo. Owner Tiffany Fixter opened the concept in 2016 with an inclusivity goal to employ people with disabilities. Bringing this vision to life, they train and hire adults with developmental disabilities to brew and serve beer at their accessible taproom and brewery. The company joins a growing number of breweries that are prioritizing accessibility and inclusivity by hiring individuals with disabilities as brewers, bartenders, and servers.

CK Mondavi & Family

This Napa Valley, Calif.-based multigenerational wine brand is an active supporter of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), which builds centers that treat military personnel suffering the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other disabilities. CK Mondavi & Family was inspired to support the cause to honor family member Peter Mondavi, Sr., a World War II veteran.

A wine with a cause, EFESTĒ is a family label that was founded in 2005 and is based in Washington state. Its “Tough Guy” wine is inspired by the founders’ son Joe who was diagnosed with A.L.L. The winery has raised more than $270,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since the inception of Rockin’ Sips and the release of “Tough Guy.”
