JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will work hand in hand with the Company’s Senior Accounting Manager and CFO and is primarily responsible for providing daily, monthly, and quarterly support for a wide variety of accounting processes, with a focus on Accounts Receivable and Trade Spend.  They will play a crucial role in managing Sweet Loren’s receivables, ensuring timely collections, and managing trade deductions while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with various departments.  Additionally, the Staff Accountant interfaces closely with the Operations team by helping to facilitate the complete order to cash process.  
 
This position requires a self-starter with a working knowledge of intermediate accounting skills and an understanding of their effects on the financial statements.  The applicant performs a variety of tasks and must be familiar with general accounting concepts, practices and procedures, including safeguarding of assets, internal controls and their impact on operations and the financial statements. Reliance on personal experience and judgment to accomplish goals is required. Strong computer and spreadsheet skills are a must.  The ideal candidate will have a background in general accounting processes, as well as experience in the food manufacturing industry.  The position has the opportunity for continued career advancement in a rapidly scaling organization.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
·        Manage accounts receivable and customer cash application processes; ensure that the accounts receivable aging is accurate and that collection activities are appropriate; validate month end cut off for receivables; ensure that month end reconciliations for accounts receivable are timely and accurate.
·        Prepare and send Client invoices based on BOLs and Packing Lists 
·        Process cash receipts using various client portals to locate supporting documents 
·        Proper coding, reconciliation, and analysis of trade spend  
·        Manage dispute process for unauthorized deductions  
·        Review and dispute of customer shortage claims 
·        Identify trade issues and bring them to the attention of the Sr Accounting Manager and the Sales Team
·        Monitor and collect outstanding receivables 
·        Cross-functional collaboration with Sales and Supply Chain teams 
·        Play a key role in the monthly close process for various general ledger accounts. 
·        Assist with external audit requests. 
·        Conduct periodic audits of specific accounts to ensure their accuracy. 
·        Provide support to vendors and staff for miscellaneous inquiries.
·        Manage the processing and recording of all customer invoicing to ensure that all receivables are collected in a timely manner.
·        Develop additional procedures and monitor the results of those procedures to ensure that the GL and financial statements are complete and accurate within the bounds of proper cut off and in accordance with GAAP.  Establish troubleshooting procedures to identify issues if financial results are not as expected.
·        Assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures with a constant focus on continuous improvement.
·        Complete special projects as assigned.
 
DESIRED SKILL & EXPERIENCE:
·        At least 1 year experience in CPG Accounting 
·        Prior experience in Consumer Branded Products (CPG) space strongly preferred
·        College degree preferred
·        Working knowledge of GAAP standards and standard operating procedures.
