Role Description
The primary responsibility of the Category Space Manager is designing and building a category management capability (people, processes, and systems).   The selected individual must be willing and passionate about leading this effort, and enthusiastically embrace a true “role up his/her sleeves” approach in actually doing work and “getting stuff done”.  
 
Essential Duties
·         Implement category management system (expect this to be the JDA Space Planning software platform).
·         Identify and implement appropriate processes to create and optimize well-functioning category management capability. 
·         Develop and analyze merchandise assortments that deliver overall category growth through a combination of internal merchandising tools coupled with retailer specified guidelines.
·         Analyze retail and market level data to develop planogram schematics.
·         Create relevant product assortments and optimal space planning that drive sales, while working closely with suppliers, key customers, and SBC team members.
·         Educate/train/mentor SBC team members on basic category management fundamentals, and where appropriate, suppliers and key customers.
·         Other responsibilities will include data cleansing, modular management, modular retrieval, reviewing retail and category management guidelines, etc.

Requirements
·         Bachelor’s degree preferred, but relevant experience accepted.
·         Strong analytical experience.
·         Proficient in JDA Pro Space with 2+ years of hands-on experience.
·         CPG industry experience required with alcoholic beverage background preferred.
·         Ability to collaborate with a wide range of individuals with varying knowledge and communication styles. 
·         Strong oral and written communication skills, good judgment, and creativity.
·         Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
·         Must be a self-starter and be willing to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
·         Must be adept at organizational skills and prioritizing activities.
·         Must be able to successfully coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
·         Must be willing to have a somewhat flexible schedule, with some late nights and weekends required during limited times of the year based on business needs.
·         Ability to work with autonomy as well as collaboratively with team members.
·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Access is a plus.

 
 
Certificates/Licenses:
·         Valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
·         Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment to qualify for a Kansas ABC Sales License.
