  • Position Summary:

    The position of Manager, Commercial Finance is a critical role within the Illinois Team, acting as strategic financial advisor to the Region Director. This role is directly involved with all aspects of Market P&L, pricing, spend management, reporting and analysis and distributor budgets. This position actively engages the market to identify growth opportunities and provides thought leadership to the team through a combination of routine deliverables and ad-hoc analysis to help guide choices that will deliver market AOP. The role requires an individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills who is highly analytical and can utilize the power of information to influence a wide array of stakeholders from different business functions .

    Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

    Finance:

  • Period end close responsibilities including preparation of accruals, YTD results, and analysis of variance drivers (actual results vs. budget/forecast)
  • Preparation of annual budgets and latest financial estimates with input from the Sales, Brand, and Revenue Management teams
  • Manage R&O insights, planning, forecasting (including Latest Estimates), customer / brand profitability analysis
  • Track and reconcile A&P spend and provide ROI analysis with Marketing & Sales teams


  • Commercial Analytics:

  • Analyze and publish syndicated reporting to the team providing key insights into market and customer performance drivers
  • Provide business performance tracking and insights to key stakeholders
  • Build ad-hoc "what-if" type analysis to support leadership decision making and conduct post-program analysis to evaluate ROI
  • Support the building of presentation materials for brand owner and executive visits to the market as well as distributor/customer business reviews
  • Conduct periodic team training sessions to improve the analytic capabilities and commercial acumen of the sales and marketing teams
  • Improve net sales performance by actively identifying strategic and tactical pricing optimization opportunities and developing execution plans with Sales Team and Chain Account Team Leads to implement
  • Work with Chain Account team leads to develop annual program calendars that delivers the business at maximum ROI


  • Pricing:

  • Conduct analysis of competitive activity in the market and recommend pricing counter tactics to region managers and Chain account team leads
  • Plan and execute annual pricing plan including price increases and changes to pricing strategy in conjunction with distributor partners and brand team stakeholders
  • Ensure market compliance with brand pricing strategy through periodic market surveys/syndicated data analysis and work with sales teams to execute adjustment plans and Brand & Revenue Management teams to adjust brand strategies to fit marketplace dynamics when needed
  • Conduct price elasticity studies to determine volume and revenue implications of price changes within different channels and customers


  • Nature & Scope:

    This position reports directly to the Region Director. Role will interact directly with the American Division Finance Director, Finance Manager, Local Market Activation Managers, as well as the Local Market Managers and Region Chain Managers to develop and implement commercial and financial plans that will deliver the Net Sales target. This position will also interact directly with distributor Finance Manager and Pricing Manager to align on monthly forecasting, ensure budget adherence and price strategy compliance.

    Key requirements:

    Education: Requires a BS / BA degree, MBA a plus

    Experience/Background:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance, pricing, or commercial analytics role; multi-functional role in the Spirits industry or CPG experience a plus
  • Impeccable analytical skills, must be able to generate insights from data and demonstrate strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively influence others, build strong relationships, establish credibility, build consensus, and partner cross-functionally without direct authority
  • Extensive experience with business systems (Essbase, JD Edwards, Oracle Business Intelligence),syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI), and Microsoft applications (Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Ability to embrace and work with ambiguity; break down complex problems to provide clear and effective recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment


  • Travel: 10-20% of time (market & distributor visits, national meetings, off-site training, etc.)
