At Moët Hennessy USA, the Category Management Team serves as a strategic partner and guide in the Luxury Wines & Spirits Category, providing insights and solutions that drive category & Moët Hennessy growth.
This Manager, Category Management role serves as an integral driver of Moët Hennessy's short-term and long-term business ambitions, focused on value creation and delivery of the route-to-consumer (RTC) strategy. The role sits within the Consumer Connections, Insights & Strategy (CCIS) Team, reporting to the Senior Director of Category Management, uncovering, and driving opportunities across retailers of various sizes and complexity.
The Manager, Category Management provides strategic and tactical analyses, using various data sources, develops insights and drives data and shopper centric recommendations for business building, aligning to both Moët Hennessy's and retailers' category growth objectives. The Category Manager role requires strong proficiency with Category Management functional standard processes, in addition to technical skill mastery with leading syndicated data and research platforms referenced below, as well as effective communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
The Manager, Category Management is responsible for serving as a subject matter authority in Category Leadership selling strategies. This individual will establish and build business relationships with multiple team members, both internal and external, across business sectors and categories. Category Leadership:
- Provide proactive, strategic brand and category direction to key internal partners, reflective of retailer opportunities, in addition to driving value with our retailers using the same forward-looking approach.
- Prepare and present effective category presentations to our customers that drive the strategic importance of Premium Wines & Spirits and these categories' shoppers and consumers.
- Develop actionable business insights, identify shopper affinities and behavioral opportunities, all supporting activation at retail and annual plan development/attainment.
- Collaborate on retailer priorities, based on category, shopper, and consumer opportunities, while aligning to Moët Hennessy's distribution, promotion, pricing, and shelving objectives.
- Reinforce and improve the best-in-class differentiation that MH offers the retailer community, including luxury shopping experiences and environments, as well as profit optimization.
- Collaborate with multiple, internal cross functional teams to:
- Serve as a driving force within the Insights into Action Model.
- Deliver innovation commercialization.
- Develop external launch materials for the Sales teams.
- Develop merchandising standards by brand and retail channel.
- Conduct post promotion analysis with findings socialized and acted upon.
Analysis:
- Responsible for tracking Industry, category and Moët Hennessy performance via sales reporting, retail price and distribution tracking, post event analysis, and execution of shelf standards.
- Communicate scorecard takeaways across collaborators, with key insights and recommended actions.
- Resolve retailer opportunity gaps and volume/profit (value) potential to MH and categories.
- Develop retail store clustering assortment solutions for Moët Hennessy's portfolio and categories, as needed.
Training:
- Provide category leadership and shopper insights training across MH and distributors.
- Embed the proprietary category leadership learning model and ensure application to everyday business.
- Present business tool training on prioritized syndicated systems/deliverables to the organization.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; relevant Industry experience preferred.
Experience & Skills:
Required:
- 3-5 years of Category Management related employment or similar analytical function.
- Analytical skills to extract scalable insights from complex data sets.
- Shown ability to build compelling selling stories, based on data, and explain insights to people with various levels of knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of syndicated data (e.g. Circana, Nielsen, SPECTRA, Panel).
- Very strong technical experience with Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPS, macros, large data management, data linking, graphing, automation).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and consistently deliver efficiently
- Self-starter (proactive) and independent, creative problem solver.
- Strong presentations skills to various levels of internal and external team members.
Preferred:
- Category captaincy or comparable experience.
- Beverage Alcohol Industry experience, preferably Wine and/or Spirits.
- Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau administrator/writer/creator experience.
- Working with third party distributors or brokers.
