Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Brand Manager, this individual will play a critical role in delivering the James B. Beam Distilling Co. (JBBDCo) strategy and defining the relationship with the sub brands including Jim Beam, Basil Hayden, Knob Creek and super premium brands like Booker's and Little Book. Additionally, this role will drive the development of the programs, creative assets, and tools for markets around the world to realize the brands' vision which would include overall launch strategies, go-to-market plans, brand experiences, and then building the assets and tools to execute on that vision.

Duties & ResponsibILITIES:
  • Brand Foundations & Stewardship:
    • Manage portfolio strategy including sub brand architecture, brand world, visual identity, communication strategy, asset development and merchandise
    • Collaborate with sub brand teams to ensure communication and content strategies are aligned and integrated with JBBDCo
    • Support and grow James B. Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits relationship and homeplace programming
    • Provide global JBBDCo strategy guidance and brand governance information to markets' Brand and Commercial Marketing teams
    • Build relationships and successfully execute projects with cross-functional partners, including Innovation, Insights, Finance, PR, etc
  • Strategy & Planning:
    • Assist in the JBBDCo house strategic plan development including, growth and experience plans (3Y and 12Y)
    • Work closely with innovation team, family distillers and R&D to craft long-term JBBDCo House innovation strategy, including vision, objectives, guardrails and future pipeline
    • Collaborate with supply chain to improve decision making on maturing inventory liquid trade-offs
    • Ensure short and long term JBBDCo House CAPEX plan is aligned between marketing and supply chain
    • Support JBBDCo sustainability strategy and help implement immediate priorities on campus and within sub brands
  • Experience Design & Delivery:
    • Build the experience and launch plans for the JBBDCo - including the overall approach to bringing to life in market and determining the right set of touchpoints to do so. Lead creative briefing, creative reviews, agency management, and a cross-functional team in developing those final plans.
    • Lead elements of the launch plans for new initiatives inclusive of digital, social, website, PR, experiential, and other touchpoints.
    • Manage the JBBDCo digital ecosystem - inclusive of the website (BeamDistilling.com) content, whiskey finder, account creation, CRM, and amplification (media) plan for physical homeplace and digital ecosystem
    • Lead JBBDCo's approach to direct-to-consumer, including existing Barreled and Boxed membership program and future eCommerce opportunities
  • (Gemba) Insight:
    • Analyze and make recommendations based on competitive and market activities
    • Contribute to quarterly brand updates and business reviews
    • Oversee budget management and forecasting process, including ROI evaluation
    • Assist with strategic and annual brand planning by leading key elements of plan and working with our Regional Brand Teams to build locally relevant marketing plans
    • Participate in strategic liquid and product discussions

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Experience in managing the creative brand building and innovation process and fostering productive relationships with agencies, creative teams and cross functional partners. Proven record in partnering with Sales and Commercial leaders to align marketing strategy to commercial goals
  • A track record in bringing new thinking and ideas to a business/brand in order to accelerate growth.
  • A strong curiosity for different cultures and markets across the world.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 4-8 years' consumer marketing experience. Global CPG, luxury brands or spirits experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field required and MBA preferred
  • Experience building and growing premium brands, preferably in alcohol beverage category,
  • Experience with agency management
  • Demonstrate a digital first approach to brand building
  • Experience in digital content development, website strategy, eCommerce, Direct-To-Consumer, CRM preferred
  • Strategic thinker
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to draw conclusions from data and extract meaningful insights to tell a story
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with supply chain to understand short- and long-term tradeoffs
  • Team player with collaborative style with a listen first approach
  • Culturally sensitive, proven ability to build credibility and excel in a global environment
  • Able to work well in a fast paced, cross-functional environment, and navigate ambiguity
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects in a timely manner
