Few U.S. cities are as defined by the natural foods scene as Boulder, Co. A nationally-recognized hub for emerging food and beverage businesses, Boulder is home to a wide range of brands with a shared appreciation for health and sustainability.

And now they’re giving back to a town that has given them so much.

On Dec. 30, Colorado’s most devastating fire swept through Superior and portions of Louisville. Pushed east by 100-mph winds, the Marshall fire burned across 6,000 acres and destroyed as many as 1,000 homes and businesses in the area.

In response to the fires, a Marshall Fire Family Relief Fund was created to raise money for those affected families. To date, the fund has raised more than $500,000. The GoFundMe fundraising page is spearheaded by Luke Vernon and Brie Doyle, married parents of three children and long-time residents of South Boulder.

“We can’t imagine what affected families are going through right now, including family members and friends who have been impacted. We are fortunate that our house was not directly impacted. We are leveraging the reach of our businesses as well as our personal networks to raise money for those in need during this catastrophic event,” the organizers wrote on the fund’s page. “We are doing this out of the goodness of our hearts and are putting tremendous time and energy behind helping those in need right now. One hundred percent of campaign funds are being put directly in the hands of vetted and verified peopled who lost everything.”

A few of the organizations and individuals who have generously contributed to the fund include Yasso, Piper Sandler, The Hershey Company, Hoplark, Justin’s, Bobo’s, Raison d’étre Bakery, Fortnight Collective, John Foraker, Steve Hughs, Hummingbird Brands, WishGarden Herbs, Made in Nature, John Bruggeman, Presence Marketing, Sterling-Rice Group, Hippie Snacks, 34 Degrees, Green Spoon, Frontier Co-Op, Elizabeth Carter, Quicksilver Scientific, Interact Brands, KeHE, and others.
