CHEERS! Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits currently seeks a Director of Brand Marketing who will be tasked with setting and achieving the company’s strategic ambition (volume and profit growth) for both Yellow Tail and Layer Cake Wine trademarks as well as our other low lux wines (Barone Fini, The Crossings, Villa Pozzi and Hob Nob).

The Director will function as the day to day brand lead and will serve as the voice of the brand within the organization, leading brand specific interactions across marketing, sales, finance, and operations. Will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all strategic and tactical consumer-marketing and trade facing activities to enhance the growth and profitability of the two brands. The Director will report to the SVP of Marketing and is expected to be able to operate with significant autonomy and will manage a team (direct and indirect) of 8 marketers. This role is based out of Stamford, CT and has great flexibility between working from home and working in our headquarters.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for development and execution of the annual brand strategies and marketing activity plans for both brands. Full responsibility for the submission of all annual planning deliverables including setting the rationale for each brand’s growth targets
  • Lead the design of activity plans and activity platforms, including but not limited to, advertising, media planning, programming, public relations and experiential marketing
  • Lead management of all outside agency initiatives in support of the brands' business objectives including, but not limited to, advertising, media, experiential, programming, packaging and public relations agencies where applicable
  • Lead Measurement and Evaluation of all marketing activity to determine ROI and effectiveness of activity and help the organization understand how activity builds long term brand equity
  • Work closely with senior Sales leadership (EVP, VP Strategic Accounts and Sales GMs) to understand the diverse needs of customers and identify opportunities to expand the business in channels of trade through development and execution of effective commercial strategies and activities
  • Management of the annual brand budgets and submission of spend compliance documents with brand owners. This role will include accountability for setting and managing P&L structure in partnership with FP&A
  • Responsible for accurate and timely product forecasting (through S&OP and LE processes) and leadership of monthly forecast analysis and recommendations when sales vary from forecast
  • Shared responsibility for the delivery of depletions, market share, AMP spend targets, and profit objectives consistent with overall brand and company strategy
  • Be the commercial voice of the brand, by interfacing on a consistent basis with Sales, Finance, and Operations to rapidly identify commercial problems/opportunities and take appropriate action as warranted

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 12 years in consumer goods; alcohol beverage marketing experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability for having grown a brand, or group of brands, with at least $50 million in profit and a brand marketing-controlled A&P of $20MM
  • Must be a senior marketer who has touched and directly managed all aspects of the marketing mix including media
  • Deep experience in leveraging consumer and sales analytic research, both qualitative and quantitative, then develop compelling insights that unlock consumer driven brand strategies and activity development
  • Experience in successful new product development that helps build brand penetration or frequency of purchase
  • Experience in customer specific marketing program development and activation

  • Deep and instinctive understanding of what works for the consumer in shaping competition beating creative ideas and execution
  • Proven success in building high performance agency relationships. Able to mobilize agencies around an inspiring vision and grounded focused briefs/feedback
  • Ability to take initiative, develop and seek out creative and innovative ideas
  • Holds themselves and others to the highest standards of quality in creation and execution
  • A proven leader respected across all functions and known for the ability to execute and mobilize a sales team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface at all levels within the organization and outside the company
  • Deep experience in hiring, developing, coaching, and evaluating talent
  • Strong analytic skills and financial acumen (can readily identify insights in ships/deps/consumption data and translate to action;), ensures all their solutions are rooted in commercial viability
