Our ambition is to become one of the leading fine wine companies in the United States. This will require us to structure a strategy along with the right team to focus on the development, commercialization, and growth of our Fine wine portfolio. This will also require us to work closely with MH USA brand team, regions, distributors, and trade to marshal, redeploy, and/or secure additional resources and implement commercial plans that will accelerate opportunities and mitigate risks to profit and volume goals while building brand image and equity.

The Fine Wine Manager will lead their respective Fine Wine division by implementing a defined strategy for the sustained growth of our Fine Wines. This person must be based in either the NYC metro area or the Greater Chicago, IL area. This role will be an integral part of our Wine Estates team reporting to the General Manager of Fine Wines. Handling relationships with our distributors and targeted prestige accounts as well as our final customers will be key to the success of this role. The Manager will bring focus internally to our Fine Wines while educating and training our immediate teams on the behaviors and skills required to implement our strategy.Job responsibilities

Brand Focus
  • Primary focus on Prestige Icons $100+:
  • Joseph Phelps and Numanthia
  • Secondary focus on Essential Luxury $50-$99.99:
  • Other icon wines.

Geography Focus
  • Primary focus on BBG and Independent major markets to include AZ, CO, IL, MA, NJ, NY.
  • Plus, National Accounts On/Off Premise, Private Client Sales, and select Control markets that are appropriate for Fine Wine focus.

Internal
  • Identify, map, and develop the right channel strategies (on, off, e-commerce) and supporting tools for Fine Wine portfolio.
  • Handle allocations and inventory at all levels.
  • Engage regions to drive commercial acceleration and mitigation plans, including analyzing, evaluating, and optimizing A&P/FTT/DPP requests for Brand approval.
  • Support timely communicated availability of POSM elements to the markets, particularly ratings.
  • Support coordination between region finance/Operations/Markets to lead flow of goods into market.
  • Regular communication with Brand Team to provide commercial efficiency and relevance on Brand strategies and projects.
  • Report competitive activity and implications to Brand, Regions, and Business Intelligence

Distributor
  • Secure more than fair share of hearts and minds for MH USA Fine Wine portfolio
  • Engage distributors to secure agreement (particularly fine wine and wine-certified sales reps) of MH USA Fine Wine plans and ensure Key Performance Indicator measurement and evaluation of these plans by local markets.
  • Ensure distributors understand and support MH USA Fine Wine's value strategy and the corresponding suggested pricing corridors.
  • Provide impactful, sales-driving education and training sessions that will motivate these highly knowledgeable fine wine reps.

Trade
  • Secure more than fair share of hearts and minds for MH USA Fine Wine portfolio
  • Build relationships with local targeted Trade accounts (On & Off-Premise)
  • Provide impactful, sales-driving education and training sessions that will motivate these highly knowledgeable accounts.
  • Collect qualitative trade-level competitive activity for competitive reporting and implications to Brand, Regions, and Business Intelligence

Consumer
  • Be the ambassador of the Fine Wine brands at consumer events organized by Brand team or Regions, particularly where sales either pre-event and/or on-site is permissible by law.
  • Support Private Client and e-Commerce sales efforts through building relationships with Fine Wine consumer influencers (collectors, HNWIs, HENRYs, etc.)
  • Collect qualitative consumer shopping and consumption behavior for competitive reporting and implications to Brand, Regions, and Business Intelligence.
Profile

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or Marketing degree preferred.

Professional Experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience with sales and/or marketing experience.
  • Experience with consumer goods or U.S. wines or spirits industries preferred.

Practical/Technical Knowledge
  • Shown proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Can demonstrate strength in the following Capabilities: Strategic Approach, Business Insights, Balancing Stakeholders and Planning and Aligning.
  • Understanding of brand strategy development in a commercial context
  • Strong commercial orientation and a keen understanding of the marketing/sales relationship
  • Shown success influencing cross-functional partners, including senior leaders
  • Strong presentation skills: committed storyteller via PowerPoint and comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Understanding of the U.S. three-tier distribution system required
  • Very organized and process driven.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
