The Activation Manager creates velocity in accounts by fostering relationships with the company’s trade customers and consumers. This is primarily a customer- and trade-focused role, and does not include distributor management.

● Executes velocity-creating activities in approximately 50 accounts.
● Independently visits assigned accounts to build and maintain key relationships, executes staff training, and performs consumer sampling.
● Works within key accounts to earn Westward menu placements, features, displays, placements of POS, and sampling opportunities.
● Hosts trade gatekeepers at Westward Whiskey in Portland.
● Works with the Oregon State Manager to identify relevant local events and leads Westward activation at these events.
Planning and Organizing:
● Manages time effectively; prioritizing velocity-creating activities
● Monitors performance against deadlines and goals
● Identifies and organizes resources needed to accomplish tasks
Reporting:
● Provides weekly preplans to Oregon State Manager
● Continually updates KPIs and assigned programming
● Manages and reports activation and T&E budgets
● Provides recommendations against the target account list and updates every 6 months
Presenting and Communicating Information:
● Projects credibility - speaks clearly and fluently with skill and confidence to both trade (bartender, bar manager, store buyer, etc.) and consumer
● Expresses opinions and key points of a challenge clearly
● Responds quickly to the needs and feedback of an audience
KPI Achievement:
● Velocity goal within assigned accounts
● Consumer Sampling: Qualified consumers of the account try Westward
○ Dinners and other in-account tasting events
○ In-store Tasting demos
● Brand Programming: Brand-led programs designed to reach consumers at the account
○ On-Premise- Menus, Features
○ Retail- Displays, website features
● Trade Programming: Bartenders, waitstaff, store managers feel positive about recommending Westward
○ Staff trainings- Staff can articulate key attributes of the brand
○ Staff incentives- Staff recommends Westward on target occasions
○ Trade events- Engaging educational and fun events with trade
Qualifications:
● Minimum of 3 years luxury spirit sales experience
● 2+ years within the assigned market with established relationships on key account list
● Knowledge of the local spirits market, including local laws & statutes, the brand, category, and industry.
● Experience in selling to both on and off-premise
● Located within designated market
● Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Web-based reporting tools
● Demonstrated strong coaching and sales training skills
● Demonstrated excellent customer service
● Post-offer background check
Travel and Time Management:
● <10% of time allocated to administrative duties
● >90% of time allocated to Field Sales work
● A minimum of 50% of the work will be nights and weekends
