Job Description: 
The role of the Hive Key Account and Activation Manager is a hands-on position managing the promotional activity and execution of both the National and Local marketing programs for a high-profile spirits beverage company, Brown- Forman. The position includes managing, recruiting, and training of the promotional team, assisting the local team with strategic event set up, planning, and execution, creating POS kits for the market, assisting with crew drives, and increasing portfolio sales. The position also includes some On-Premise account management, conducting wait staff trainings, and being a brand builder in the market. Additionally, this exciting role includes interaction with the local distributor to facilitate target account programs and provide excellent communication to all parties to ensure effective account management and successful consumer engagement.

Preferred candidate will reside or relocate to the Detroit, MI area.

 Job Details include, but are not limited to: 
  • Work closely with the local Brown-Forman management to ensure all expectations are aligned, programs executed, and resources used effectively and fully leveraged.   
  • Develop strategies / plans for addressing client needs and brand goals. 
  • Continual research and reporting of competitive mix / information and events.
  • Effective and efficient targeted event scheduling. 
  • Measurement and reporting on qualitative and quantitative event performance and analysis.
  • Achieve individual performance objectives and goals by tertile and annually.
  • Share monthly reporting, program recaps, pictures, and best practices with stakeholders.
  • Manage event and promotional team schedules, along with promotional kits and brand-related material used during events. 
  • Event / On-Premise account management within a diverse account universe, including, but not limited to, Multicultural, General, and LGBT+ markets. 
  • Align and connect with Hive Manager, Brown-Forman Stakeholders, and Hive Co-workers continuously on priorities, tasks, program needs, and opportunities. 
  • On-Premise Account management of a minimum of 15 key accounts with sales goals for performance.
  • With comprehensive brand portfolio knowledge, execute staff trainings.
  • Execution of On-Premise promotions, special events, and Brown-Forman programs.
  • Communication of competitive activities. 
 
Activation Management:
  • Schedule promotions/events with target accounts and distributor reps.
  • Manage activation calendar and communicate event calendar to all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for coordinating POS for assigned promotions / events
  • Plan and execute promotions/events in accordance to brand guidelines.
  • Recap promotions/events with a thorough analysis to all parties within a timely manner 
  • Successful planning, ideation, and execution of special events, trade events, sponsorships, and partnership activations. 
  • Work closely with distributor partners to communicate promotional allocation and brand expectations.
  • Develop appropriate venue mix for optimum program execution. 
  • Hire, train, book, and manage promotional team. 
  • Continuous brand training of promotional team and ensuring up-to-date permits are on file.
  • Ensuring promotional payroll is submitted accurately and on time.  
  • Fulfill special request orders from accounts, distributor, and Brown-Forman personnel 
  • Engage key accounts, as well as consumers in those accounts, during special events
  • Develop/utilize research data and continuously analyze market conditions and competition affecting the market(s) and overall programs. 
 
Market Management: On-Premise:
  • Knowledge of market’s target account/venue universe. 
  • Understand entertainment trends among target demographics. 
  • Understand and achieve the target consumer and annual promotional programs in key accounts. 
  • Manage client’s programs and brands in On-Premise Key Accounts.
  • Develop and grow relationships with target accounts in the assigned market. 
  • Conduct bartender and wait staff trainings/seminars.  
  • Understand the importance of merchandising and seek opportunities for brand presence in the market and target key accounts.
  • Consistent communication with all accounts. 
  • Obtain drink specials and menu features in all key accounts. 
  • Develop opportunities for account/bartender loyalty programs.
  • Consistently communicate and provide monthly recaps of account visits / activity.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including monthly expenses, promotional recaps, and monthly reporting, showcasing local market activity.
  • Build long-term brand presence while building long-term account relationships.
  • Participate in all crew drives with local Brown-Forman and distributor teams.
  • Create all necessary POS kits for all special programs as requested by the local Brown-Forman team. 
 
Financial Management:
  • Manage resources strictly by understanding each program budget and ensure individuals are executing within guidelines.
  • Understand sponsorship opportunities and communicate values, as well as return on investment to client.
  • Manage point-of-sale inventory and market assets. 
  • Maintain and track individual expense reporting and trackers for both Operational Budgets, as well as Field Execution Budgets 
 

Skills
  • College Degree preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check. 
  • 2+ years industry/event experience and passion for spirits preferred. 
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, media-handling, and training skills.
  • Can work with high-volume key accounts and venues.
  • Organized, ambitious, self-starter, outgoing, charismatic personality, independent but also a team-player. 
  • In-depth understanding of target consumer and On-Premise accounts.
  • Adept at selling and interacting with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work non-traditional work hours is required (holidays, nights, and weekends).
  • Ability to lift and carry weight in excess of 40lbs; this is an event market and moving set-up items can be strenuous.  
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time. 
  • Intermediate MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to work with the Google Platform (Drive, Sheets, Slides, Docs, etc.) 
  • Extensive drive time within the respective market(s) will be required (and some outside travel/overnight trips to surrounding cities), therefore, reliable transportation is a must – SUV, preferred. 
  • Preferred candidate will reside or relocate to the Detroit area (we do not help with relocation).
