Vice President of Sales, Control States and Canada

This role is responsible for leading sales strategies and managing broker and state organizations across multiple Control States and Canada. The VP will focus on achieving volume, financial goals, and distribution targets, while ensuring adherence to brand policies and promotional initiatives. Key to this role is building strong relationships with brokers, state organizations, and key accounts, and driving in-market performance through strategic program implementation.

This person should be located in the Philadelphia or PA/NJ area. 

Position Responsibilities:
  • Broker & State Management: Oversee day-to-day activities with brokers and state organizations, ensuring adherence to volume, financial, and distribution objectives.
  • Business Planning: Lead annual business planning, including monthly and quarterly reviews to track forecasting, inventory, and programming adjustments.
  • Sales & Training: Conduct product seminars, train broker salespeople, and ensure execution of marketing and sales initiatives. Provide competitive market analysis and feedback on distributor performance.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Develop and implement a 3–5-year strategic program for Control States and retail chains across Canada and appropriate markets.
  • Key Account Relationships: Build and nurture relationships with key on- and off-premise accounts, ensuring that brand initiatives align with local market conditions.
  • Broker Relationship Management: Be visible at broker offices, working closely with sales teams to ensure brand alignment and market priorities.
  • Local & National Alignment: Execute national brand initiatives at the local level while aligning with key local events and partners where appropriate.
  • Sales Reporting: Provide weekly market activity reports, highlighting objectives, competitive activity, special projects, and additional sales needs.
  • Market Insights: Offer regular updates on market conditions, competitor activity, and staffing changes at distributors or key partners.
  • Pricing & Incentive Management: Manage pricing structures, incentive tracking, and distributor performance to ensure adherence to financial models.
  • Marketing Feedback: Assess and report on the effectiveness of sales and marketing programs, POS materials, and advertising efforts.
Role Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the distilled spirits or wine supplier industry, with at least 2 years of experience managing multiple control markets. Experience with the Canadian market is preferred but not required.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading sales teams and managing broker relationships.
  • Sales and Marketing Knowledge: Expertise in product promotion, marketing strategy, and sales techniques.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather and present data for diverse audiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Customer Focus: Ability to build strong relationships with key accounts and distributors, ensuring in-market success.
  • Physical Requirements: Clean driving record, ability to travel frequently, and ability to lift up to 45lbs.
Valued Experience
  • Experience in Management and/or Marketing, with an emphasis on sales strategy in a control state environment.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and familiarity with sales reporting software.
