Scope:

The Commercial Finance Manager (CFM) reports to and assists the Chief Brands and Commercial Officer (CBCO) with accomplishing financial goals and the maintenance of financial controls with a focus on the commercial aspects of the business. The CFM is responsible for the financial stewardship and business analytics of Barrell Craft Spirits, including communication of business results and the utilization of analytics to influence decision making processes. The CFM provides strategic financial leadership and decision-making support to the Sales teams in the areas of volume forecasts (shipments and depletions), distributor inventory levels, price positioning, price structures, discounting tracking and effectiveness, and other distributor management (incentives, programming, etc.). Leads the demand planning process in partnership with sales and production teams to forecast the monthly sales and production plans.

Partners With: Sales, Marketing, Production, Accounting/Finance, Senior Leadership Team and Distributor Personnel.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Commercial Analytics:
·       Leads all aspects of commercial finance including pricing strategy and margin performance, business reporting, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and overall profit optimization.
·       Acts as a thought partner to the sales teams, as well as other company leadership, to help grow the business profitably through all available levers (distribution, velocity, pricing, product mix, channel/customer mix).
·       Partners with sales teams in developing annual plans/forecasts, short term gap plans, as well as medium to long term strategic plans at the market level, ensuring decisions are supported with thorough analytics.
·       Leads business analytics at the local markets level, partnering with colleagues across the company.
·       Through ongoing review of financial results, as well as through planning/forecasting processes, identifies, communicates and manages risks and opportunities.
·       Provides business analysis and reviews to local teams. Based on analysis, uses information to facilitate decision making that may lead to development of remedial action plans.
·       Utilizing internal and distributor systems and resources, and by synthesizing information from syndicated sources such as IWSR, Nielsen, NABCA, etc., maintains thorough understanding on business drivers (volume and per case) impacting current and potential results.
·       Responsible for managing internal data sources, Tableau and VIP, to ensure data is accurate and updated as necessary. 
 
Pricing/Discounting Management:
·       Responsible for overall pricing and discounting management.
·       Working with senior leadership and sales teams, co-develop pricing strategy that is reflective of brand direction and addresses the local sales and financial needs.
·       Ensures price structures are reflective of the current market conditions, transparent to key stakeholders, in sync with distributor counterparts, and in a standardized format across markets.
·       Develops tools and processes to monitor brand price position versus established guidelines and competitive positioning.
·       Oversees discounting related to timely and accurate invoice receiving, processing and tracking with proper levels of supporting details.
·       On an ongoing basis, determines the effectiveness of deals and discounting programs as it relates to distribution, velocity and inventory levels.  
·       Monitors discounting spend vs. forecasts and helps identify ways to address shortfalls or utilize excess funds.
 
Distributor Management:
·       Acts as a business partner to the sales team in order to drive mutually beneficial business decisions with our distributor partners.
·       By partnering with sales teams, helps manage distributor inventory related processes.
·       Participates in distributor meetings and other relevant distributor reviews with the goal of influencing decision making while keeping BCS profitability maximization top of mind.
·       Fosters close working relationships with distributor counterparts.
·       Helps negotiate and manage distributor margins, ensuring margins are aligned with levels of service provided.
·       Track AR aging invoices and required follow-up with wholesalers to ensure payment terms are met.   
 
Must Requirements:
·       Bachelor's degree plus at least 7 years of relevant experience; or MBA degree plus 5 years relevant experience; or equivalent education/experience combination.
·       Previous experience in the beverage alcohol industry.
·       High attention to detail with the ability to collect, analyze and manage data from multiple sources.
·       Proven ability to independently organize work projects and deliver results on time.
·       Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and Google products, VIP software.
·       Proven ability to quickly become proficient in new tools/software.
·       Strong oral and written communication skills.
