About Tequila 512

Scott Willis is the imagination and determination behind Tequila 512, an award winning, small batch tequila that hit the market with a bang in November 2012. Willis moved to Austin to be a part of the live music scene, but when that didn’t pan out he began working in the fast growing technology sector. Still, he had larger aspirations. After reading an article about Tito’s Vodka, Willis focused his energies on creating his own brand of spirits. After settling on tequila, Willis spent nearly seven years traveling through Mexico, finding a distillery, perfecting his recipe, creating his logo and developing his concept. The result was Tequila 512 – named after his beloved hometown. His inspiration has always been Austin, so his tequila mirrors his views on the town. Good quality without the pretense. No fancy packaging or gimmicks, just good tequila.

AWARDS:A mere 10 days after hitting the market, Tequila 512 Blanco was voted “Best Tequila in

Austin” at the Austin Tequila Festival over more than 30 proven brands. This was only the beginning. In 2013, Tequila 512 went on to win “Best Overall Tequila” at the Austin Tequila Festival, a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (the largest, most influential spirits competition in the world), and a Gold Medal at the SIP Awards (the only spirits competition judged by true consumers).

And finally, this all culminated in winning the biggest and most prestigious award the spirits industry has to offer. In 2015, Tequila 512 Blanco won the highly coveted “Best in Show” and a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This makes Tequila 512 officially the Best Tequila in the world. In order to receive a Double Gold, the panel of expert judges must unanimously agree your product is far superior to the others. The best spirit is then unanimously chosen from the group of double gold medal winners in a blind taste test. There is no higher honor in the business.
