New Product Development Product Manager (Hybrid)

Tofurky is looking for a qualified and experienced NPD (New Product Development) Project Manager to join our team. This is a hybrid role, with at least 2 days a week working from our facility in Hood River, Oregon.  Relocation is not available for this position.

What you'll do: 
The ideal candidate will oversee the end-to-end new product development process, including managing internal go-to-market efforts and coordinating with co-manufacturers. Reporting to the Marketing department, NPD's Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful launch of new products, from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities include:

Project Management:
  • Lead cross-functional project teams through all phases of the NPD process, ensuring alignment with project schedules and objectives.
  • Implement and manage phase-gate processes to drive efficient project execution and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to meet project objectives.

New Product Development:
  • Collaborate with research and development, marketing, supply chain, operations, and quality assurance teams to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  •   Drive innovation by identifying market trends, consumer insights, and the competitive landscape to develop compelling new product concepts.
  •  Manage the development and refinement of product formulations, packaging designs, and product specifications.

Marketing:
  • Oversee internal marketing efforts, including production pilot runs, scale-up activities, and process optimization.
  • Coordinate with co-manufacturers to ensure successful commercialization of new products, including technology transfer, production testing, and quality control.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance and address any issues or deviations to ensure product quality and consistency.
·       Cross-functional collaboration:
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication between all internal and external stakeholders involved in the NPD process.
  • Act as a liaison between Marketing and other departments to ensure alignment of project objectives with overall business objectives.
  • Lead weekly status meetings and provide regular updates and reports on project status, risks, and opportunities to senior management and key stakeholders.
·       Continuous improvement:
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the NPD process.
  • Conduct post-launch evaluations and reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in future projects.
 
Ratings:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing Preferred
  • 3 to 5 years in a project management position within the consumer goods industry, preferably in new product development 
  • Strong knowledge of phase gate methodologies and project management tools.
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary manner with teams including research and development, marketing, supply chain, operations, and quality control teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite and project management software.
