Overview
The Category Manager provides Insight & Analytic support to our retail customers and will assist in identifying opportunities and making recommendations that deliver category and customer growth.
Primary Responsibilities
• Act as a Category consultant to Walmart providing unbiased recommendations to drive overall category growth
• Strengthen category performance by providing strategic and tactical recommendations to Walmart merchant teams regarding assortment, merchandising, and pricing
• Track category sales performance and provide weekly analysis to Walmart merchant teams
• Serve as the category expert by fully understanding shopper motivations and barriers through available syndicated, shopper card, and panel data.
• Understand and apply customer, consumer and industry insights using market research data to deliver category growth
• Operate as a primary point of contact for Walmart and provide reporting, analysis, and insights that help the merchant track their business and develop a plan for growth
• Analyze macro and micro market trends and develop assortment recommendations before and during line reviews
• Analyze opportunity gaps, pricing opportunities, industry headwinds/tailwinds, and item trends to create an annual category growth plan to share with the merchant team at Walmart
• Help craft Merchandising Guidelines for drawing modulars that incorporate the merchant's strategy and vision for the category
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor s Degree and two years of experience or equivalent education and related experience
• Exposure to P&L management analyzing sales and unit performance
• Experience with category management principles, syndicated data, shopper/consumer insights, and space management principles and software (Blue Yonder)
• Demonstrated experience with analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
• A demonstrated high-level understanding of Customer Development / Category Management processes and practices along with the ability to collaborate with Walmart to deliver insights and recommendations within six key domains: Macro Level, Retailer & Market, Consumer, Shopper, 4 Ps (Product/Assortment, Placement/Merchandising, Promotion, Pricing) and Operational
• Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products, Spectra, Nielsen, and Luminate Previous experience with Walmart or adult beverage strongly preferred

• Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding or using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor)
• Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
