Job Overview
The Financial Controller executes key accounting operations and financial functions. As Department Lead, the Financial Controller ensures that these areas work effectively to provide accurate data to the Senior Leadership, CEO, and Board to make strategic decisions.

The Financial Controller, working with our 3rd party accounting firm, is responsible for the overall productivity and accuracy that lead into delivery of company financials on a timely basis. This includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and tax filings, and financial reporting.

A successful Financial Controller must have strong business acumen, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills. As a key member of an entrepreneurial company, the ideal candidate must have a roll up the sleeves mentality, while thinking strategically, creatively, and always with the goal of net income optimization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

· Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

· Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.

· Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.

· Provides and oversees financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

· Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

· Files quarterly and annual financial reports to CEO for distribution to stakeholders and well as monthly reports to management.

· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

  • Manages and perform all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL , Inventory Accounting, Fixed Assets and Revenue Recognition;
  • Oversees financial analysis, reporting and strategic initiatives;
  • Prepares timely monthly financial statements;
  • Performs month-end and year-end close process;
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting;
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls;
· With the assistance of the Senior Leadership Team, develops annual and 5 year financial models.

· Annually, submits to CEO financial forecasts in support of the CEO’s strategic plan to be submitted to the Board for review and by October 31st of the preceding year.

· Supports CEO with financial analysis as needed.
