Position Summary
The Market Manager focuses on advancing ongoing brand presence and promotion programs in a manner consistent with approved account and consumer targeting standards. The Market Manager oversees a specific Long Island territory and the activity and staff within those markets across all brands and programs. In addition, the market manager serves as a local off-premise promotion expert knowledgeable of consumer trends and beverage alcohol competitor activities. The Market Manager is responsible for acting as a strategic business partner with our supplier partners, this role Manages event bookings, Staffing, Hiring future stars, Activation of marketing events and Educational programs associated with brand building capabilities for our valued suppliers. This leader will instill behaviors like, attention to detail, marketing excellence and continuous improvement to elevate activation for best-in-class activations within Long Island. The role will drive success in the market and will partner with the educators to activate and execute to win in Long Island. The role owns the end-to-end accountability of market performance and coaching and day to day management of a field-based educator teams.
• Communicate with a large field-based team daily.
• Lead complex and challenging projects with high organizational visibility
• Provide exceptional client service experiences in all situations with attention to detail.
• Recruit, train, and manage execution of brand specific promotions while maintaining the required staffing levels to support all planned programs
• Assure Educators are achieving goals and meeting expectations for respective territory.
• Recruit, train, and manage a pool of Consumer Educators
• Facilitate compliance checks and secret shopper visits.
Retail Stores
• Confirming scheduled off premise events with accounts, suppliers, distributors, etc.
• Quality control of off premise events
• Consumer educator training and orientation
• Scheduling of consumer educators
• Recruitment of consumer educators
• Establishing and maintaining quality relationships with accounts
• Research and organization of product information
• Serve as manager on duty in absence of other management.
Reporting
• Generate and/or review accurate post-event reports using Database capturing key goals/metrics specified for each program.
• Assist in preparation of divisional/market post-event recaps/reports.
• Monitor the status of all goals versus actuals (and tentative, confirmed, executed MBN’s)
Client Services
• Build and establish relationships with local clients.
• Serve as point person and key local client contact for local Distributor within designated territory.
• Lead in Analytical support services, Weekly recaps, KPI tracking, Brag Books, sharing of Data to suppliers
• Direct the implementation of new and existing initiatives utilizing various strategic platforms for the Team
• Hire, Train and educate a large staff on Wine, Beer and Spirits brands, with a focus on storytelling and category insights.
• Develop and enhance relationships with the trade through in store visits, engagement, and spot checks to ensure quality activation weekly.
• Build and maintain relationship with top premise accounts on Long Island
• Continually develop and implement strategies to build High Performing teams, build future leaders in the organization through investing in talent and coach, mentor and develop people.
About you
• 2+ years Wine, Beer and spirits recent experience in sales management in New York a preferred
• This role is based in Melville Long Island and requires that the applicant work in an on site office
• PowerPoint and Excel excellence and the ability to create and present best in class work
• Compliance – we will always abide by regulatory and legally compliant activity
• 3+ years sales Agency or event Activation management experience or retail management experience
• Category, brand Education, and portfolio strategy experience
• Must have strong influencing and negotiation skills and be a result oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as strong customer service skills. Verbal communication is critical to success.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines. And schedule others accordingly.
• Must be able to pull, push, and lift to 50lbs on daily basis during preparation, set up, break down and execution of events
• Strong oral, written, problem solving, motivational, and communication skills
• Ability to gather information, analyze information and report key insights with recommendations for solutions
• high moral character and social responsibility; demonstrate strong interpersonal & Leadership skills
• Open to working weekends on call as required; position can often be outside of traditional office hours.
• Must be extremely organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Powerpoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in creating, controlling, and maintaining budgets.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within company and business partners.
• Excellent oral and written communicator
• Action Oriented: Responds in a timely and effective manner to business issues and opportunities.
