Job Description

The Supervisor - Merchandiser is responsible for supervising of the Merchandisers.

What your day will look like:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the UNITED policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, hire, and train associates
  • Plan, assign, and direct work
  • Appraise performance
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
  • Builds positive associate morale
  • Tracks, measures and analyzes execution of Picture of Success (PicOs) across each area of responsibility using the internal execution trackers available
  • Supervises merchandisers and other associates
  • Works weekend supervisor duty on a rotating schedule
  • Ensures orders are accurate and that product returned to Company facility is properly processed
  • Documents performance and conducts performance management meetings for SHINE assessments and disciplinary action
  • Completes accident reports and conducts accident investigations for merchandisers and other associates
  • Provides merchandising skills and safety training
  • Rides with associates new to the job and performs merchandising functions alongside new associates to train on Company merchandising expectations
  • Evaluates associates progress during the new hire training process
  • Backs up and assists merchandisers on routes; performs merchandising duties and tasks as needed
  • Reviews orders in computer against product loaded in truck
  • Accurately accounts for all monies, invoices, products, and inventory
  • Maintains good customer relations with store representatives
  • Addresses customer requests and complaints
  • Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to coach and manage needs and concerns of multiple associates
  • Repeated kneeling, squatting and overhead reach
  • Repeatedly lift, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and exposure to weather
  • High school diploma or general education degree; or 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Good working knowledge of computers
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
