We are looking for a Director of Sales to support our rapidly growing Food Channel. This role will be based in Chicago (or open to any major market), reporting to the VP of Food, Drug, Mass, Club. This strategic leadership role will be instrumental to the growth and scale of Vital Proteins. Responsibilities include the development of the Food Channel strategy, P&L ownership, trade spend management, leading current team (6 NAM direct reports). The individual will be instrumental in supporting our most strategic accounts and will have national revenue and trade management responsibility. This role will partner with Sales Executive Leadership on overall strategy and will work cross-functionally among all aspects of sales - including operations, trade marketing, marketing, omni-channel, finance, and education. Additional responsibilities include forecast analysis, promotional execution, effective communication of SOP's, and strong category management analysis to further support and grow distribution optimization. We seek an individual who is familiar with the Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, Publix universes, has existing relationships, is a team player, has entrepreneur tendencies, excels in fast paced dynamic environments, accepts change, as our culture is a curious one and we continually information gather, evaluate and evolve.

What you will be responsible for:
  • Strategic alignment and development of the overall Food Channel strategy with executive leadership team
  • Building a team, culture and reputation for results
  • Accountability of Channel P&L management and trade budget
  • Revenue forecasting, demand planning and distribution mapping
  • Relationship and revenue responsibility for both national and regional Food Channel customers
  • Increasing alignment and strategic relevance between major customers and business plan execution
  • Working closely with retail marketing developing retailer specific support and launch plans
  • Evaluating sales promotional/trade spending and effectively track ROI
  • Planning for, participating in, and supporting trade shows, trade events and major sales events

Who you are:
  • Have a bachelor's degree in business and or equivalent experience in account management
  • You have 7+ years of previous national or key account management experience

preferably calling on the Food Channel and or Conventional Grocery (Kroger, Publix, Ahold Delhaize, & Safeway)
  • You have at least 5 years or prior leadership experience
  • Strong organization, tactical, and business cadence skills
  • You have a demonstrated record of success and overachievement
  • Motivated, adaptable, and able to work with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth company
  • Someone who embraces change and challenges
  • Takes initiative and proactively looks for and suggests process improvements
  • Are an active listener with strong negotiating and problem-solving skills - with a dose of humility
  • Student of selling who finds personal satisfaction and joy in closing and building a business and helping others to do the same

  • Comprehension or experience selling health and wellness and or beauty products coupled with strategic relationships
  • Willing to travel up to 50% (including nights and weekends, post COVID)
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
