Maintains a leadership role in development and implementation of risk control initiatives and claim function designed to protect earnings against the financial impact of loss due to: employee injury, liability claims by members of the public, building damage, loss of physical assets or business interruption due to fire or damage to the environment. Manages the worker's compensation process and coordinates fire prevention/protection and industry security efforts in the distribution center.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Trains and supports operations in accident investigation techniques
  • Analyzes factors that may create accidents, accident conditions or enable multiple accidents
  • Identifies potential high risk accident situations and assists various departments in the implementation of control strategies
  • Monitors adherence to the DC's Safety programs, practices, policies and procedures that cover a wide range of Company and Regulatory agency required activity
  • Acts as a primary interface with groups such as government agencies, insurance companies, etc.
  • Represents the Company's interests as directed and approved at regulatory agency proceedings
  • Develops, requests and reviews accident statistical reports to focus efforts on injury trends and corrective actions
  • Communicates to distribution associates risk control issues and objectives
  • Coordinates services of the worker's compensation claims administrator, property and liability insurance consultants and a wide variety of state and federal regulators
  • Implements corporate directives related to and including ergonomic observations, hazard assessments, approved practices, data analysis and metrics analyses
  • Manages the employee return-to-work program and medical case management programs
  • Develops, facilitates and coordinates applicable training programs
  • Monitors training of new associates with respect to safety policies and procedures
  • Handles the most complex RC matters or projects
  • Works as key communicator to all employees regarding policies and practices
  • Coaches and guides leaders in creating a culture of safety and risk management
  • Other job duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements:
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Professional certification, such as GSP, ASP, CSP and/or ARM preferred
  • Broad working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, environmental, and worker's compensation laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of medical, legal and hazardous chemical terminology
  • Knowledge of industrial security best practices and procedures preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule
  • Excellent PC skills required
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and provide superior customer service required
  • Comprehensive understanding and expertise in virtually all areas of Risk Control typically gained through 6+ years of applicable Human Resources and Risk Control experience
  • Proven ability to influence DC leadership to create and enforce effective Risk Control practices
