Assist in the planning and implantation of the Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Research & Development program. Accountable for providing implementation, execution and verification of quality systems and programs ensuring product quality and food safety.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and lead HACCP/HARPC, Food Security & Defense, Crisis Management Team, and Food Safety Committee. Oversee and lead overall plant Food Safety training to all staff members with regards to Food Safety/SQF.
  • Develop and build QA/QC team through effective recruiting and retention programs including selection, orientation, coaching, communication, motivating, appraising and counseling.
  • Lead monthly Food Safety Audits and Internal Audits.
  • Own and maintain the Quality Control, Policies & Procedures and HACCP Manuals
  • Handle third-party audits such as SQF, Organic, Kosher, Almond Audit, Customer Audits and Non-GMO Audits.
  • Oversee investigation and corrective actions for customer complaints.
  • Assist in the management of research and development, formulation adjustments, product evaluations and product launch activities.
  • Report results and trends on a quarterly basis to the Quality Assurance Director.
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal/external contacts including major customer representatives.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a highly ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Lead and serve as a role model for others in the organization by consistent demonstration of high ethical standards. Supervise and assign tasks to the Production, Receiving and Sanitation Department Supervisors.
  • Lead and Train members of the Crisis Management, Food Security & Defense, HACCP/HARPC, Food Safety Committee.
  • Responsible for Supplier Audits
  • Oversee and lead all pest control issues in the facility
  • Responsible for all food safety/ safety training to all employees in the facility.
  • Oversee, lead and train all QA staff on microbiological testing and results and run microbiological laboratory.
  • Perform shelf life studies to ensure that the product last through its Best By date.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Quality Assurance Director.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Food Science or related discipline, or equivalent training and experience
  • HACCP Certification, SQF (Safe Quality Food) Practitioner required and FDA FSMA Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
  • Must have valid driver's license

  • Minimum 5-7 years related industry work experience and thorough knowledge of quality management to include current industry food standards and statistical techniques
  • Minimum 3 years supervisor experience required
  • System Implementation Preferred

  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Strong teambuilding and leadership skills; able to lead, coach, train, inspire, motivate and develop others; able to effectively delegate and follow-up
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to build and maintain effective, positive internal/external working relationships with diverse group of individuals throughout the organization and exemplify these qualities in a leadership role

  • Competent to learn and adapt to new computer applications, system upgrades and other technology as necessary
  • Able to successfully complete all QC Core Training requirement for this position
  • Able to understand all microbiological testing for all products and be able to interpret all testing results
