Purpose:

Assist in making UNFI the best place to work and invest in by developing and implementing programs that provide a safe and secure environment for associates and company assets. This is accomplished by ensuring Loss Prevention (LP) and security policies are implemented in our Distribution Centers (DCs) to protect associates as well as managing shrink due to theft, fraud, and damage resulting from carelessness or disregard, through use of policies, technology, and existing resources. Verifies that locations are following company-wide LP/security policies and procedures, along with Business Continuity Plans, to safeguard company associates, contractors, visitors, product, and property for UNFI. This role will be a key leader collaborating closely with DC Risk and Safety Managers, DC Operations, Facilities Managers, General Managers, Inventory Control teams, and other DC Leaders.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of LP/security strategies to mitigate losses and reduce shrink
  • Partner with DC leaders in Operations, HR, and Inventory Control at multiple sites to apply company-wide security policies to safeguard people, product, and property due to threats, theft, vandalism, or disasters
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of strategic LP/security programs and recommend processes and changes to make them more efficient, including the development and leveraging of partnerships with Inventory Control and Operations to help analyze financial data to drive strategic investigations
  • Conduct on-site security audits/assessments and provides recommendations to reduce or eliminate risk exposure/gaps; participates in security planning for company events (warehouse, office, and transportation environments) and work with DC leaders to implement these recommendations and strategies
  • Conduct timely and thorough investigations into company losses, threats, workplace violence, and other sensitive matters and coordinating with Human Resources, Risk Safety, and Legal as appropriate
  • Timely and thoroughly documenting LP/security incidents into written reports and the case management system
  • Conduct Workplace Violence/Treat Assessments and develop plans to minimize the risk to the DC, offices and associates
  • Assist in implementing various LP/security training programs in the DCs
  • Assist in managing the security equipment at each company location, including CCTV cameras and monitors, alarm systems, electronic door access control, and other technology to protect associates and physical assets
  • Provide support for Risk Safety Managers as needed related to LP/security issues including security related incidents, investigations, managing contract guard service
  • Act as the company's liaison with Government Agencies and Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Work closely with Business Continuity, Operations, Human Resources, Inventory Control and various departments within the Legal Department and possess the ability to exercise positive influence without having direct authority
  • Any other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education, Certification (Required & Preferred)
  • BS degree in a related field or 5 years relevant experience required
  • Certification in interviewing techniques preferred

Experience/Knowledge:
  • Experience in investigation, interviewing, and report writing
  • Conducting security threat assessments
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial security practices and technology
  • Experience managing LP/security for multiple locations
