Job Overview:

Gathers and translates business and/or technical needs in to relevant documentation for assigned projects. Establishes consensus among stakeholders and/or project team members in relationship to assigned deliverables. Provides leadership and a collaborative approach to integrating the stakeholder needs with the project activities and facilitates communication across the project and Technical service teams involved in solution development related activities. Performs job functions in an independent manner, with limited coaching. Capable of performing on multiple projects and can be assigned as mentor to work closely with BSA I and peer team members, guiding them to execute job functions and related processes in alignment with company standards.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Recent experience with Jira, Confluence and agile methodologies. (more recent as in the past 3 years)
  • Experience working with external and/or internal business stakeholders
  • Experience going out to those stakeholders and asking questions or getting requirements. Ideally someone who we can just point in the direction and say go and who has done this piece before.
  • Experience in the grocery or supply chain industry a huge plus (or another related complex industry like transportation) PREFERRED
  • Experience creating user stories
  • Familiar with wireframes and how to use them to prepare business partners
  • Can work with limited oversight to complete tasks
  • Performs gathering analysis, documentation and validation of business and / or technical needs using interviews, workshops and modeling techniques
  • Documents business and / or technical needs using textual and visual modeling deliverables designed to help UNFI meet its strategic objectives, in accordance with the UNFI methodology
  • Facilitates small to medium sized groups of individuals, representing significant diversity in interest and level of leadership, to a common understanding of a solution
  • Fosters team building and self-driven skill development through active participation in appropriate training, mentoring and certification programs
  • Consults with subject matter experts and project team members to identify and document potential business and technology solutions
  • Identifies, manages and tracks business and technical objectives throughout the project's lifecycle
  • Identifies and communicates project issues and risks to the Technical Service and business unit management with suggested mitigation and resolution approach options
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of assigned functional domains and their integrations with other functional domains, while analyzing retail industry trends and researching functional best practices
  • Coordinates project or initiative tasks with relevant team members, stakeholders and leadership
  • Manages day-to-day business interaction and business expectations in relationship to assigned deliverables, with the guidance of functional manager, project manager, and mentor
  • Builds strong relationships with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, functional domain leadership and other Technical Service disciplines and service teams
  • Participates in the mentoring of other BSA resources
  • Demonstrates competencies as outlined in applicable Business Systems Analyst Specialties
  • Actively participates and collaborates in the Requirements Management Discipline and obtains peer review feedback to grow and develop skills.
  • Maintains the Enterprise Requirements Management Repository to ensure accuracy of a solution's requirements is managed through its lifecycle.
  • Identifies, submits, and drives the development of requirements management process improvement needs.
  • Conducts assessments of how existing requirements management collateral (documentation, research or other materials) can be more effectively utilized throughout their related functional domain, where applicable.
  • Experienced with ProVision business process modeling tool.
  • Utilizes Provision to document and manage business process designs
  • Defines and documents single workflow business processes with a limited number of simple business interactions according to Business Process Design artifact standards.
  • Performs Business Process Design responsibilities under significant advisement of Business Process Designer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the purpose and inter-relationships of Data Models, including Domain Model, Logical Model, and Physical Data Model, performing domain models under advisement of an Information Architect.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Information Management and Stewardship, effectively utilizing enterprise information management concepts and contributing new content where applicable.
  • Performs Logical Data Modeling sessions for the purpose of producing Domain Models, under the advisement of an Information Architect.
  • Actively participates and collaborates in the Requirements Management Discipline and obtains peer review feedback to grow and develop skills

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience preferred
  • Preferred work experience in IT, retail, or supply chain organization
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrates strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates strong facilitation skills with the ability to drive toward common solutions
  • Demonstrates strong interviewing, listening and observational skills used to identify and define business and technical needs
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and conceptual skills used to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, while reconciling discrepancies
  • Demonstrates strong analytical modeling skills (models that clearly and easily communicate concepts to customers)
  • Demonstrates effective IT system and business function documentation skills
  • Demonstrates ability to work under the direction of more senior business systems analysts and functional managers
  • Understands business process design
