Job Description

The Wonderful Company is seeking an experienced Director, Grants Management with a passion for social good to support the company's groundbreaking community development initiatives. Under the Senior Director of Strategy and Finance, Corporate Social Responsibility's direction, the Director, Grants Management will lead efforts to assess funding opportunities and submit proposals for funds to governmental (federal, state, and county) and non-profit entities (foundations, educational institutions, research organizations).

This position requires a detail-oriented, self-starter who is comfortable researching, writing, and administering complex grants and assessing and implementing other funding structures. The ideal candidate will be motivated by our mission and excited to join a fast-paced environment that is constantly striving to make California's Central Valley a better place to live, work, and raise families.

This position is based in Los Angeles, CA or the Central Valley, CA
  • Master a detailed understanding of the company's different social impact departments and initiatives, which currently include education, health and wellness, and community development.
  • Lead social impact departments in researching and assessing funding opportunities and creating funding strategies.
  • Directly manage third party grant writers and grant seeking organizations from start to finish, with support from technical program staff as needed.
  • Project manage all grant applications, compliance and reporting requirements with other key program staff.
  • Work with program staff to capture data about The Wonderful Company's social impact work and strengthen our ability to tell the story to funders.
  • Maintain a grant calendar to ensure all proposal and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Establish post-award administration processes; assist with preparation of budgets and reports to ensure post-award compliance for all grant and contract requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in grant writing, with demonstrated success winning grants or contracts from NIH, NSF, USDA, state agencies, or other comparable entities.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft complex grant content and manage third-party support as appropriate
  • Highly resourceful at sourcing grant opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain working relationships with company executives and staff across multiple departments.
  • Assertive and proactive management style to keep parties informed and on schedule.
  • Ability to stay highly organized and manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review proposals and budgets for accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of funding agency policies and procedures for grant submissions and grant administration.
  • Technical interest and understanding of community health and/or education is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy/Public Administration or similar field, Master's degree in Public Administration or other related degree or equivalent experience preferred.
