Overview

The Vice President/Managing Director, SDM (Supplier Development and Marketing), will be accountable to drive enhanced value for both suppliers and SGWS by providing strategic direction, management, collaboration of/with commercial support functions who are responsible for developing supplier sales and marketing plans and overseeing the commercial execution of those plans. The role will provide thought leadership in the sales process, programming activities and key business processes aligned with the assigned suppliers’ RTM and will work collaboratively with Region and Market leadership in the interest of growing their suppliers’ and SGWS’ share while driving SGWS profitability.  Some of the key business processes include: PACE planning, supplier marketing/programming, forecasting/inventory management, national account programming, digital planning, consumer marketing, long and short-term financial planning and business analytics. Leadership and team development while driving accountability of their supplier SDM VPs and Directors will be another key responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities

Supplier Sales Execution:

  • Responsible to oversee the suppliers’ performance trends, identifying risks and opportunities to facilitate supplier priority setting and management
  • Oversee the SDM business, performance KPIs, targets and goals, overall growth, and national level relationships
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with both internal/external executives, cross-functional leadership and supplier stakeholders
  • Provide decision support and strategic direction to ensure compliance administration and consistent strategy for supplier marketing activities
  • Support commercial finance functions to ensure fund management, supplier A/R and pricing strategy
  • Oversee the implementation of sales effectiveness initiatives and standard KPI’s for supplier reporting and scorecards, including supplier reviews such as T2T, QBR and RFP requests
  • Provide strategic oversight to the S&OP process and inventory management including ongoing review of underperforming SKUs to develop a product rationalization strategy
  • Participate in contractual agreements, while overseeing all corporate supplier ways of working

  • Supplier Planning: Responsible to oversee the development and implementation of the supplier sales strategy to enhance overall market performance, supplier performance, analytics capabilities, and gross profit attainment goals
  • Provide strategic direction around supplier planning 360, programming, and activations to ensure that brand strategies and standards are achieved aligned with the PACE process
  • Provide decision support and oversight around regular review and management of functions related to forecasting and mitigation planning through the PACE process
  • Successfully embed in both the SDM team and suppliers’ digital capabilities, and consumer/trade marketing best practices across the team including a strong understanding of SG Proof
  • Oversee the process and implementation of annual goals and priorities of all SDM suppliers
  • Provide strategic oversight to drive national consistency, process standardization and tool deployment across the corporately managed suppliers
  • Drive coordination and collaboration on SDM supplier initiatives with the Regional Commercial Operations and Commercial Strategy functions
  • Participate in National Account AOP process and coordinate alignment between National Account and Supplier deliverable priorities (if applicable)
  • Team DevelopmentLead, coach, empower, and direct team on overall performance; define expectations and monitor progress
  • Attract, retain, and motivate team to maintain an engaging work environment
