Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney to work in-house at a large, multi-generational, family-owned company. The Contracts Counsel - Technology will assist in contract review, negotiations and drafting, legal compliance and a variety of other general corporate matters focusing on technology and e-commerce within the beverage alcohol industry. The Southern Glazer’s legal department is based in Dallas, Texas but supports a company with operations in 44 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. Open to flexible work location.

Essential Functions

• Review, negotiate and draft a variety of agreements, including agreements structured around strategic company initiatives.
• Research and analyze laws and regulations that may apply to complex issues related to the beverage alcohol industry.
• Identify relevant issues related to engagements with vendors and partners.
• Conduct and present basic risk assessments in order to assist internal clients with opportunities to support company goals.
• Collaborate with other senior lawyers with ad hoc issues that arise.
• Communicate with, and oversee, outside counsel engaged to work on projects and contracts.

Qualifications

• Excellent academic credentials, including a J.D. from a top-tier law school.
• Licensed to practice law, preferably in Texas.
• 5-10 years of legal practice experience focusing on technology and e-commerce contracts.
• Preference given to applicants with experience in beverage alcohol industry.
• Strong drafting skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing and speaking English fluently.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and outside counsel and gain their respect.
• Excellent organizational skills to effectively handle a large volume of agreements and multiple matters at the same time.
• Strong cognitive and analytical skills.
• Acute attention to details.
