Overview

The Assistant ortfolio Manager provides a consistent approach and strategic thinking for the pricing and approval of products. Responsible for managing the pricing process and developing strategic pricing recommendations to be presented to senior leadership. Accomplishes objectives through research and analysis of competitive pricing dynamics and development of robust pricing models for products and product lines.  Supervision, direction, oversight, and evaluation of the pricing/costing personnel and evaluation of assigned accounts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the National Portfolio Manager and key suppliers to develop, execute and analyze marketing promotional plans for the assigned brands
  • Monitor marketing calendars nationally and work with regional Key Account Managers to review the implementation of marketing programs. Identify market opportunities/potential issues and recommend solutions, providing updates to the National Portfolio Manager and suppliers as requested
  • Monitor deadlines for marketing submissions and tender applications nationally, preparing product information for applications/submissions in advance of deadlines
  • Assist with the development, sourcing, and delivery of sales tools required for the execution of national marketing programs
  • Analyze brand performance by market and supplier monthly and report findings to Portfolio Manager and Director of Marketing
  • Assist the National Portfolio Manager in developing an action plan to address any areas of concern
  • Monitor budgets on monthly basis to track versus plan, notify Portfolio Manager of potential risks, and over/underspends.
  • Maintain regular contact with sales teams, suppliers, and key customers - provides resources and answers questions
  • Investigate supplier issues, concerns, and/or complaints related to assigned brands
  • Assist the National Portfolio Manager during supplier meetings, helping to address performance against plan, the effectiveness of pricing, promotional strategies, and success of new item launches.

  • Coordinate and participate in market visits and surveys with suppliers for assigned brands
  • Work closely with the regional sales teams to assist in the coordination and preparation of various trade shows, tastings, and events
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree and/or some College
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training in Marketing, Sales and/or Business Management
