Title: Quality Assurance Manager 
Position Location: Seattle or Pennsylvania/surrounding area (home-based with some travel to co-manufacturer)
Reports to: R&D Quality Manager

Position Description

The Food Quality Assurance Manager supports efforts to safeguard SkinnyDipped brand integrity by maintaining and implementing diligent controls over established safety and quality programs. A significant portion of this role will involve direct oversight of and collaboration with SkinnyDipped contract manufacturers in an on-sight capacity. This Quality Professional with emulate an attitude of continuous improvement and have a high level of both verbal and written communication to ensure that policies, procedures and instructions are in place, understood and acted upon to meet best in industry standards. Research and use company resources to understand and advise on regulatory rules and laws pertaining to industry and SkinnyDipped products. 

Position Responsibilities
 
Quality Management
  • On-site and virtual oversight and management of production activities at SkinnyDipped contract manufacturing sites followed by reporting outputs. On-site activities to encompass ingredient staging, product production, product packaging, product analysis/testing, warehouse areas, and equipment sanitation. Act as first line of defense and main co-man contact for addressing quality issues. This may entail travel to testing facilities in the United States, or possibly other countries.
  • Communicate with co-man management and production employees to ensure adherence to SkinndyDipped specifications including problem solving of unexpected issues. Improve and set clear benchmarks and non-conformances for products. Ability to review and analyze production records including regular auditing of brand BOMs against co-man BOMs. 
  • Optimize/improve yield loss at co-man
  • Audit co-manufacturer KPIs and reporting of those KPIs in a regular and scheduled manner by managing expectations with the co-man.  
  • Creation and maintenance of company Quality Systems Manual inclusive of policies and programs to protect SkinnyDipped products, brand integrity, and future business opportunities.  
  • In support of quality systems management, improve and maintain the company Supplier Approval Program for all food and material vendors. Work with co-man quality departments, SkinnyDipped Purchasing, and suppliers to provide necessary documentation and questionnaires for their Supplier Approval Programs.
  • Maintenance of quality documentation including information needed by Sales Team for distributor and retail customers. Assist with Sales Team inquiries as directed with customer requests and portal inputs.
  • Update and maintain of all company specification sheets for co-manufacturers. Inclusive of packaging SKUs, LOT # print placement, package appearance, tear notch, pallet configuration, pictures, etc.
  • Create and maintain internal retain program to mirror co-man efforts and ensure easy access to product should quality references be needed. 
  • Conduct regular sensory evaluations for existing products with founders/sensory panel
  • Monthly meetings with Leadership to report on quality/food safety/consumer complaints
  • Understand and support all nutrition fact panel and ingredient statement updates and reviews.
  • Support Marketing with customer complaint program including follow up and investigation with contract manufacturers and ingredient vendors to promptly determine root cause and report back to SkinnyDipped leadership team. 
  • Participate in co-manufacturing vetting and control documentation. Detailed process flow with regards to our standards and tolerances with PASS/FAIL criteria and outcomes.
  • Understand lot code access systems (including external systems) to trace product and follow written process to place product on hold. 
  • Participate in meetings required to maintain adherence to stated procedures and policies dealing with food safety and quality. This would include but not be limited to company recall plan, customer complaint review, material defect tracking, etc.   
  • This role is connected and responsible for communicating newly adopted regulations and litigation trends that could or will impact our current or innovation product line(s). 
Education and Experience
  • BA/BS required, MS a plus
  • Food Science or related science degree
  • Experience working for large CPG brand as well as challenger brand
  • Ability to work independently with accountability of time
  • HAACP certified
  • BRC/SQF Practitioner or equivalent a plus
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office
  • Experience working cross functionally
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand manufacturing data
