Job Title: Sr Market Manager, On Premise So CA

Department: Spirit Sales

Reports To: Region Director

Position Summary:

Lead and drive execution of market-level plan, including Pernod Ricard strategic imperatives, brand programs, and local KPI's.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Individual: 70%

  • Executes strategic plan for Southern California region across on-premise account universe
  • Provides leadership and drives accountability with on-premise team, including market managers, prestige sales managers, and the activation specialist team
  • Owns on-premise channel; communicates strategic direction and execution results to internal team and distributor teams - both dedicated and full book
  • Coaches, trains, and develops high-performing Pernod Ricard and distributor on-premise sales teams with a portfolio mindset; includes regular performance huddles and reviews with direct reports
  • Ensures execution of market-level plan, including Pernod Ricard strategic imperatives, brand programs, and local key performance indicators (KPI's), in line with annual operating plan
  • Owns resolution of execution-related issues in region with limited support from Region Director
  • Promotes Pernod Ricard relationship with distributor on-premise leadership team; elevates conversations and drives for focus and share of mind, including on premise regional vice presidents and division sales managers
  • Owns relationship with select "whale" key accounts in the region (ex: Staples Center)
  • Ensures consistency with and execution of on-premise programming across national accounts, regional chains, local independents

  • Collaborates with Region Director to develop the strategy and annual operating plan for the on-premise channel in So CA (with support from Finance team and Market Activation team)
  • Works alongside Region Director & DSOP to create market-level plans that deliver against KPIs and strategic imperatives
  • Works with Region Director to influence, drive focus, and increase share of mind with on-premise distributor vice president
  • Works with market managers to influence combo distributor regional vice presidents and division managers and ensure each market follows the channel strategy
  • Leads monthly forecasting and commentary for entire on-premise channel in region in alignment with distributor and Region Director
  • Leads and implements "account centric execution" (ACE) model in route-to-market strategy, in conjunction with DSOP
  • Ensures ongoing ROI analysis is completed against market-level activity and investment
  • Develops and leads activation specialist deployment and market-level strategy to achieve channel and brand specific KPI's
  • Provides accurate and timely communication of changing conditions across state that effect volume, distributor staffing, and competitors to the Region Director

  • Supervises and leads market managers and activation specialists to execute market-level plan
  • Facilitates prestige and chains division on-premise priorities in local market

  • Key requirements:

    Education: Bachelor's degree required.

    Experience / Background : Position requires 6+ years of sales experience, including 3+ years of previous experience in the wine and spirit distribution industry. Sales experience within a spirits, wine or beer distributor is a plus.

    Working Conditions:

    General Office: Work is performed in a typical office environment. Limited demands for movement and lifting. Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage.


    Estimate: 40 % of time.
