Position Summary

This position is part of the Research & Development team collectively responsible for innovation of new products, formulations, specifications, and brand integrity for The Absolut Company spirit portfolio in accordance with all quality, regulatory and legal requirements.

Purpose/Strategic Direction for the Position:

Responsible for experimental and analytical activities within the Research Department

Master analytical techniques to support development and production of TAC brands

Support innovation of new products, knowledge building and brand integrity

Research new technologies and equipment; promote an environment and mindset of continuous learning and improvement

Key Responsibilities

Support Product Development teams in the delivery of new product innovations and value engineering opportunities including analytical and microbial testing.

Chemical quality analysis/assurance of products

Experienced in product blending (alcohol, sugar, acids, salts, water), filtration and food safety treatment

Conduct testing and investigations linked to NPD, complaints, quality and co-packer issues

Ensure internal calibrations and troubleshooting on critical lab equipment is performed

Assist with the management of capital purchases and maintenance of a three year plan for the Research Lab

Provide support and guidance to Co-packers, Operating units and MK Operations as required

Maintain records and provide reports for all projects, testing and investigations.

Ensure Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is followed

Participate in organoleptic evaluations

Key Parameters for Success

Deliver results, reports and analysis accurately and in a timely manner

Act with agility to address business needs

Identify potential risks to brand integrity and safety and explore opportunities to mitigate those risks

Effective communication and support to NPD/R&D and Operations teams

Expert knowledge of Malibu and Kahlua products; convenience products

Qualifications/profile and Key Capabilities

Experience with analytical methods and techniques including GC/MS, HPLC, NIR, wet chemistry and microbiology

Ability to interpret and analyze data, prepare reports & recommendations

Superior organization, time management skills and excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and manage multiple projects

Strong interpersonal /influencing/problem solving skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environment

Self starter and self directed; able to drive results in a fast paced environment

Fluent in English

Food and Beverage Chemistry and Analysis (an asset)

Good knowledge of regulations (FDA and alcohol beverage for USA and Global)

Education:

University Degree or College Diploma in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Brewing and Distilling)

The position requires laboratory and analytical experience

Microbiology / Food Safety is an asset
