Position Summary

The Foreign Affair Winery is a boutique winery, producing a variety of premium wines. We are the first winery in North America to produce all of our wines (red and white) in the rich appassimento style. We have an outstanding team who come to work everyday inspired to strive for our best. We want to offer you, our future teammates a challenging and rewarding harvest experience.

The Foreign Affair Winery team is seeking energetic and motivated Harvest Interns to join our team for the 2021 harvest season from September to December. The Foreign Affair Winery is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, sourcing fruit from both the Lincoln Lakeshore and Vinemount Ridge Appellations. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of varietals, sourced from premium vineyards. Our unique Italian winemaking style could be your once in a lifetime learning opportunity to create one of a kind Canadian wines. Our wines consistently receive top medals at major wine competitions, including a Lieutenant Governor's Award of Excellence.Producing roughly 20:80 white and red as well as sparkling wines, we employ various winemaking techniques, and have a small but skilled winemaking team you will enjoy working with.

Reporting into theWinemaker,theHarvest Internswill work as part of the team to complete all cellar activities safely and efficiently.

We are looking for Harvest Intern teammates with :

  • Previous harvest experience
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team, in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on quality, accuracy and timeliness
  • Excellent safety mindset, work performance, and attendance record
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, adherence to all safety regulations, operating procedures, and company policies
  • Ability to prioritize and to adapt
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
  • A willingness to work flexible hours when needed, including shift work, weekends and overtime when needed
  • Ability to work safely from heights and safely use ladders
  • Forklift certification an asset
  • Understanding current COVID 19 Protocol as well compliance with safe work practices
  • Foreign workers must have appropriate VISA

  • These teammates will be accountable for :

  • Operating equipment to crush, press and process grapes
  • Monitoring press pans, cleaning crush equipment & press
  • Additions to juice and wine, as well transferring juice and wine volumes using a variety of pumps and hoses
  • Cleaning and sanitation of tanks, processing equipment, crush pad, and the winery
  • Pump overs and punch downs
  • Following written and/or oral procedures and policies, reporting any deviations
  • Reading, understanding, and completing paperwork efficiently and accurately
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy work environment , as well as following current OHSA regulations
