Position Summary :

The Costing & Digital Finance Analyst - Pernod Ricard Winemakers USA is responsible for all aspects of regional standard cost preparation and analysis, vintage costing, manufacturing variance (MV) analysis and dry and finished goods valuations, Transfer Price preparation and New Product Development cost preparation for all PRW USA wine brands (Kenwood Vineyards, Mumm Napa, Deadbolt & Buried Hope)

Deliver a competitive COGS evolution and support management in understanding COGS build, MV drivers and delivery / measurement of cost improvement initiatives. Investigate processes and devise solutions to implement best practice ways of working for costing processes and with an ambition to achieve harmonization of costing processes within PR Winemakers and deliver digital finance transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Standard Cost Calculation

  • Standard Costs (Budget, Estimates, 4yr plan): Preparation, Reporting and Analysis of costing rates for the Standard Costs for Budget and Plan.
  • Once reviewed, uploading of applicable standard costs for each group affiliate by sub-brand to PRISMA (Hyperion Financial Management group reporting system).

  • - Prepare COGS calculations and analysis for Actual, Budget & Forecast scenarios

    Manufacturing Variance & COGS Reporting

  • Preparation of the manufacturing variance result for actual and forecast results
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual analysis and commentary on actual and forecast/budget manufacturing variance (MV) for bottle wine variance, dry materials including Purchase Price Variance (PPV), dry materials usage variance etc.
  • Reporting of production loss and wastage across all aspects of Operations (dry goods, glass, wine, etc.)
  • Deliver insight to management on operational performance variances and generate and implement corrective actions
  • Reporting of cost KPI's as required
  • Completing and/or reviewing appropriate monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain integrity of costing system through exception reporting and system development
  • Ensure ad hoc cost enquires are produced in a timely manner (target within 48-hour response time)

  • Costing Integrity & Cost Rolls

  • Cost rolls for new components and new Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) in E1
  • Ensure product costs are accurately maintained in the system, primarily as a reflection of the product development system

  • Ensure dry goods / requisite costs are accurately maintained in the system, primarily as a reflection of the product development system
  • Manage existing and develop new cost integrity reports, exception reporting and check processes
  • Integrity of costing systems and associated reporting to be monitored daily

  • Annual Cost Load

  • The preparation and loading of costing rates for the annual cost load in E1

  • Vintage Cost Reporting

  • Prepare, Analyze and Report on actual & forecast vintage cost
  • Provide recipe costing for new products or changes to existing products
  • Load vintage costing results to WIPS for inventory valuation purposes

  • New product profitability support & Value engineering

  • Managing relationships with internal stakeholders for NPD delivery
  • Working closely with related stakeholders to model value engineering initiative for all relevant products
  • Track progress of value engineering initiatives with related stakeholders for reporting to the regional reporting team
  • Provide insights and benchmark costs to facilitate the generation of value engineering initiatives

  • Tender modelling and analysis

  • Manage the production of costing analysis and valuations of all dry goods and other tenders as required
  • Work closely with Procurement to schedule work, model and provide presentations of results for financial recommendations for tender negotiations

  • Work Order Management:

  • Responsible for closing the open work orders at the end of the month on E1 and checking integrity of processes.

  • Transfer Pricing

  • Preparation of Transfer Prices in line with the group transfer pricing policy

  • Inventory

  • Ensure inventory is valued and accounted for accurately and consistently in accordance with Group Accounting Guidelines and IFRS accounting practice for dry and finished goods.
  • Monthly preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and transparency of all variances and integrity of general ledger controls
  • Ensure adherence to all costing audit and risk process requirements

  • Knowledge Management

  • Keeping and updating documentation explaining processes and procedures under your responsibility.

  • Costing Systems Processes

  • In relation to costing reporting, analysis and integrity, this role will investigate and utilize existing and new technology to improve delivery and process efficiencies. This will require systems development, liaising with relevant IT personnel and management as required.

  • Finance Digital transformation

    Working closely with the BI Insights Project lead:

  • Help further accelerate roll out of Business Insights and become Best Practice in insight generation using BI tools (e.g. PowerBI)

  • Delivery of pilot models to PRW US as applicable

  • Investigate and develop digital solutions for digital transformation using tools such as but not limited to Hubble, Office 365 (PowerBI, PowerPivot, PowerApps, Flow, Teams, Forms etc), RPA (Robotic processing automation) etc

  • Development of rich visualizations that deliver insights into business performance

  • Implementation of changes and evolution of existing digital solutions

  • Become a SME for digital finance transformation at PRW US and help guide other team members on the application and opportunities of new technology implementation

  • Skills / Qualifications / Experience :


  • Undergraduate degree (BSBA, BBA, BS) in Accounting, Finance, Business Economics or related technical discipline
  • 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial and managerial accounting (cost accounting a plus)
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong process-orientation and aptitude to leverage information systems to build expedient, repeatable, and reliable processes
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building, communicating, influencing and negotiating with senior level stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; able to self-manage priorities, workflow and meet tight deadlines

  • Desirable:

  • Professional Accounting body qualifications / membership or working towards
  • Understanding of Pernod Ricard Group
  • Business experience in wine industry and/or FMCG
  • ERP experience (JD Edwards); Hubble
  • Proficiency in PowerBI

  • Special Conditions :

  • Incumbent will be expected to be flexible in work location, recognizing regional nature of the role
  • Incumbent will be expected to work flexible hours including outside normal working hours on occasions to accommodate difference in time zones
  • Incumbent may be expected to travel intrastate/interstate for short periods.
  • Prepared to undertake any additional training to complement the requirements of the position, including self-directed training and on-the-job
