Brand Leader, Powers - New Brand Ventures

Job Title: Brand Leader, Powers - New Brand Ventures

Department: New Brand Ventures ("NBV")

Location: New York, NY (Headquarters)

Position Summary:

Responsible for developing an early phase brand using the NBV operating model:

  • Holistically "own the business" including brand P&L
  • Drive brand activation strategy in target markets
  • Collaborate with NBV Sales team to ensure distributor engagement and sell-in
  • Support on and off-premise program execution and activation

  • This role sits within our New Brand Ventures team, which is a division of Pernod Ricard USA focused on cultivating brands that will drive the company's future growth. NBV is responsible for the sales and marketing of Plymouth Gin, Aberlour Single Malt, Lillet, Powers, Monkey 47 Gin, Smooth Ambler Spirits and Del Maguey Mezcal and will continue to expand through acquisitions, partnerships and the development of new or global Pernod Ricard brands.

    Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities: (100% of time)

  • Distributor management: Collaborate with Sales team to ensure distributor support and sell-in execution
  • Supply chain management: Get product to the market
  • Finance: Work with NBV Finance to track depletions and support forecasting
  • Performance monitoring: Partner with Sales Managers and Finance to track performance
  • Brand strategy & positioning: Collaborate with SVP & VP Brand & Business Development on brand design, market and account type selection, and strategic pricing
  • Program development: Work with partners to design program and collateral

  • Nature & Scope:

    5 Ps of the brand: Accountable for owning the 5 Ps of the brand (product, price, promotion, place, and people)

  • Brand CAAP management including A&P Budget: Ensure budget allocated is tightly managed
  • Brand activation: Define activation programs and assets
  • Coordination with Sales: Design deployment strategy to key accounts
  • Local account selection: Segment and select local key accounts based on brand's Demand Space
  • Investment & stage gate reviews: Build requests for additional funding, own target setting & tracking, prep stage-gate materials

  • Requirements:

    Education: BA/BS required and 5 years' brand experience

    Experience / Background:

  • Entrepreneurial hustle, agility, resourcefulness, risk-taking and vision
  • Highly independent and tenacious individual who "lives and breathes" the brand
  • Agility to play multiple roles including sales and marketing strategy, activation, etc.
  • Take lead on managing conflict between in-market resources including escalating to VP or SVP if necessary
  • Adhere to PR values

  • Working Conditions:

    Field Environment: Work is performed in a typical field environment with moderate demands for movement and lifting. Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage. Frequent travel by land and/or air in diverse weather conditions is required.

    Estimated: 50% of time
