As a Project Manager, Sensory & Consumer Insights, you will develop and execute research designed to result in new or improved product guidance. You will implement technical aspects and ensure assigned projects proceed according to plan. Your research supports domestic and international markets and includes the investigation of products and product related concepts as well as packaging elements. You will manage the product portfolio strategy, winestyle target development and assessment for your assigned Business Unit / Winegrowing Region.

What You Will Do

New Product Development & Foundational Learnings:
  • Working with descriptive analysis data, consumer research studies as well as other consumer behavior and sales data, you will work to develop consumer and product insights that could generate our next national bestselling brands (examples are Apothic, Barefoot or Dark Horse)
  • Designing and executing research strategies to evaluate new product opportunities. Aligning on key success criteria, developing the experimental design to meet project objectives, vendor / agencies interaction to conduct the research as well as delivering the learnings and the recommendation to the cross-functional team will all be part of your duties
  • Tasting daily will give you the opportunity to keep on top of the trends and develop new product opportunities as well as assure the maintenance of our current wine styles as we conduct category and / or varietal assessments of the wine category
  • Leading as well as participating in project meetings and presentations where you will be seen as the voice of the target consumer and knowledgeable of their winestyle expectations

Winestyle Development and Maintenance:
  • You will partner with Winemaking as well as New Product Development to insure that the products being developed and bottled meet their expected style target delivering against consumer's expectations
  • Working and tasting with Winemaking and Marketing you will capture as well as assess the style of every wine in your portfolio, which could be Coastal, Imports or Central Valley or some combination of all three programs

Technical Research:
  • Working alongside scientists and engineers, you will design and execute research strategies to evaluate breakthrough technology for key platforms of Process Technology, Viticulture and / or Chemistry
  • Making recommendations to Winemaking on where these new tools and technology can play a role in their portfolio diversification and new blue sky products opportunities

What You Need
  • Master of Science degree in Marketing Research, Food Science / Nutrition Science, Applied Mathematics or Experimental Psychology plus 6 years of sensory or marketing research, experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility -OR- a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Research, Food Science / Nutrition Science Applied Mathematics or Experimental Psychology plus 8 years of sensory or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility

What Will Set You Apart
  • Skilled in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level
  • Good sensory acuity
  • Wine, spirit, beer or beverage sensory, product development or marketing research experience
