About The Position
The Director of Sales is a key sales leadership position for the company and is accountable for driving company distribution and velocities in retail across natural, speciality, and conventional channels.
ABOUT DEUX: DEUX is a functional foods brand that believes good-for-you should taste good. Our products are all vegan, gluten-free, made with high quality ingredients and enhanced with added boosts of supplements. Our first line of products, launched in October 2020, is a line of edible & bakeable cookie doughs that have caught fire selling nationwide online, in Erewhon Markets in Los Angeles, and regional grocery in NY, Chicago, MA, and Texas. We recently raised a Seed round of funding to grow our team, expand retail distribution, and innovate with new products.

The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing key growth strategies, tactics, and action plans required to achieve company objectives. Responsibilities include developing relationships with retailers, distributors, and brokers and development of forecasts, budgets, and sales plans for brick & mortar retail. The Director of Sales has tremendous opportunity for growth within a startup and opportunity for equity compensation. The role reports directly to the CEO.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute strategy to expand store distribution and launch into new retail opportunities based on company forecast and KPIs
  • Conduct weekly sales activity, sales pipeline reporting, and management of the sales process, expenses, & budgets
  • Manage promotional pricing, distributor impact, and account specific events
  • Analyze available data to understand trends at the account
  • Manage and direct distributors (UNFI, KeHE, and others) on account priorities and account specific projects
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop promotional and marketing programs with retail customers to drive short and long term velocity growth
  • Collaborate with Operations to manage inventory levels so flow-through is as accurate as possible at each account
  • Call on (Core) Key Accounts in the area to ensure distribution, ordering, programming, brand familiarity, staff trainings, and proper visibility
  • Develop and maintain sales contact with all major customers and new prospects
  • Review and analyze syndicated and POS data to measure item movement, SKU assortment, etc. to create actionable insights and strategies
  • Analyze competitive landscape every quarter and watch new and trending segments
  • Attend applicable trade shows (when possible)
  • Maintain accurate records regarding distributor profiles, retail and on-premise distribution, and competitive activity and pricing

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in sales roles in the startup CPG industry (refrigerated products a plus!)
  • Strong existing relationships with natural & conventional chain retailers preferred
  • Passion for plant-based, functional, and natural foods innovation 
  • Able to travel 30%+ of the time
  • Ability to analyze data and think strategically
  • Proven sales leadership and presentation abilities
  • Strong cross-functional team orientation with interpersonal skills to support
  • Prior experience with startup brand development and systems to support aggressive business and brand growth
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
