CHEERS! Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits is currently seeking an Enologist to join our California-based team.

The Enologist will be responsible for production and winemaking support for several of our brands and will report directly to the Head of Production.

The position is further responsible to support our production cost accounting function and will deal directly with our supply partners, co-packing partners and vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Prevents/identifies/treats problem wines
 Visits and works closely with wine supply partners and third parties
 Prepares and adheres to customer specifications and pro-formas
 Provides samples, analysis, inventory data and other information as needed
 Participates in tastings
 Maintains finished wine inventory
 Maintain updated volumes in bulk wine inventory
 Writes work orders if needed
 Researches and recommends winemaking/processing aids and equipment
 Preparing and packaging sample for AFS shipping samples and Approval samples
 Preparing and organizing tastings for winemaking
 Making digital copies of Winemaking paperwork and storing it on the server
 Good communication skills, open and clear communication with sample pullers, Winemaking and Laboratory
 Ability to prioritize workflow and change priorities when needed
 Ability to work independently and to complete tasks in a timely manner
 Ability to sample and make sensory evaluations during the harvest period
 Experienced sensory capabilities and able to work collectively as part of the winemaking team
 Work with our co-packing partner to ensure that all projects are planned and completed in a timely fashion
 Maintain accurate production and manufacturing records
 Knowledge of production costing methods
 Willingness to be mentored by senior winemakers and/or winemaking consultants
 Willingness and ability to drive and spend extended time at remote winemaking and production facilities
 Interface with the Head of Production on any issues on a regular basis

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Strong sense of urgency to meet winemaking and production deadlines
 Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot in order to avoid issue escalation
 Computer skills and to be familiar with wine data management software
 Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop relationships with our supply vendors, service vendors and interdepartmental teams
 Ability to work independently from a home office

Required Experience:
 0-2 years of cellar work
 Production winemaking experience preferred

Required Education:
 4-year Bachelor of Applied Science (Enology)
