Demand Planning Manager, Happy Family Organics

Happy Family Organics is looking for a Demand Planning Manager to join our Operations team in our Boise, Idaho office.

The Demand Planning Manager will assist in forecasting process, business intelligences, and information gathering from sales, new product development, operations, finance, retailers, and other sources. This position will be responsible for creating stories within the Sales & Operations Planning, S&OP, and for communicating any risks and opportunities of the retailers that they are responsible for.

High levels of mathematical and analytical proficiency are critical to the performance of this role, as are the traits of objectivity, collaborative, and growth mindset. This position requires high degree of analytical skills, ability to interacting with multiple entities, and providing meaningful analysis to drive our business.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Planning and S&OP:
  • Managing the S&OP Demand Review process in the Operations side with help of the Finance, Innovation, Marketing and Supply team
  • Leading Happy Family's Demand Planning team, driving continuous improvements, data management, and KPI reporting for our function
  • Structure, validate, manage, and analyze large amounts of data to create a forecast that reflects past performance and future opportunities and risk
  • Collaborate with the Category Management and Sales Planning team to ensure that forecast follows the trend (i.e. Demand Sensing) and identifying R/O within customers
    • Prepare and present reports, charts, and tables detailing these market factors to help inform marketing and supply planning
    • Create, evolve and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems
    • Assisting the Product Life Cycle Management process by identifying critical customers and dates with the Sales and Category Management Team
    • Support Sr. Manager of S&OP in all Demand Planning reporting. Assist in developing and automating processes for reporting and identify the drivers of the variance in monthly forecasts and adjustment in the model / plan that is going to be used

Business Intelligence:
    • Assist the Sr. Manger of S&OP and Analytics in the creation of database to create a business intelligence platform for use that is not limited in the following area forecast changes, root cause analysis, and new product launch review
    • Provide insights to market and category data from IRI and Nielsen platform to inform creation of NPI forecast, SKU optimization process, and 3rd party manufacturing production plan
    • Create a dashboard to track KPIs that is relevant to the Demand Planning and adjacent departments to identify driver of changes in the plan and ensure data integrity
    • Manage and develop with other Supply Chain functions to define and measure Key SCM metrics, such as forecast accuracy, fulfilment rate, sourcing lead-time, inventory level / turn / aging, savings on freight / other SC costs, etc

New Product Launch Forecast:
    • Managing the NPI launch benchmarking and performance tracking to provide risk and opportunity to the financials and Operational plan
    • Providing feedback to Sales Planning and Management team on performance status of the line vs. benchmark (business case) and competitor's to identify whether the product is performing well in the market
    • Keeping track of the assumption that are made during the launch and provide feedback on actual vs. assumption
    • With the help of Category Management and Sales Planning, identifying potential cannibalization to existing products when launching new products especially for line extensions and flavor additions


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, MS in Economics, Business Analytics or other quantitative majors.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and statistical skills, with attention to detail
  • Management experience

  • 4-8 years' experience with data analysis and modeling and supply chain analysis
  • High degree of commercial and business acumen knowledge to challenge and drive consensus between sales, marketing, and operations.
  • Ability to effectively assess capabilities of employees to develop and build upon their strengths and development gaps. Ability to motivate, effectively delegate and coach leaders and teams to create a positive and dynamic working atmosphere
  • Experience mentoring and developing a team of technically-savvy analysts
  • Experience in CPG, Food and Beverage, Apparel industry
  • Proven methodological skills (e.g. data analysis, trend forecasting)
  • Solid Project Management skills
  • Programming experience (VBA) through university coursework or past work experiences
  • Advanced Excel (e.g. data manipulation, charts, and complex formula)
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and define planning tools that enable successful management of demand plans
  • Ability to communicate at different organizational levels and willingness to take initiative
  • IBF CPF, ACPF, CPIM, or CSCP certification is advantageous
