Position Summary:
 
Seeking a dynamic sales professional to manage Key Account relationships in the New York, New Jersey marketplace. Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing sales and marketing programs that deliver meaningful and profitable growth. Enhance, nurture, and build long-term, committed relationships that create long-lasting partnerships with our team, customers, and vendors. Job Responsibilities:
 
Key Account Management
  •  Function as primary relationship manager with all assigned accounts. Build and manage customer relationships to ensure our goals are aligned, mutually beneficial and profitable.
  • Drive and execute sales activities in alignment with company and customer priorities. Develop innovative retailer solutions based on consumer insights to achieve shared goals and objectives. 
  • Work closely with VP of Sales, President, and Operations Director to execute, coach and provide feedback to ensure highest levels of service and customer satisfaction are achieved.
  • Develop annual customer plans that set objectives to support all products through merchandising, promotions, advertising, shelf space, pricing, and new products.
  • Collaborate with Company Category Management Team, Brokers, and Vendors to present compelling insights, retailer programs that maximize sales opportunities.
  • Execute an annual Category Review schedule – present new items to retailer buying team utilizing market trends and identifying opportunities to develop categories and brands.
  • Conduct bi-annual business reviews to executives/owners at key accounts, to review business objectives, progress against objectives and recommend actions to exceed goals.
  • Develop and execute monthly and annual sales plans for top volume accounts to achieve budgeted sales goals. Call on key decision makers. Make sales presentations to buyers, store managers and owners. 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of key account needs and requirements and prepare solutions to support their needs
  • Effectively manage multiple projects that ensure the necessary resources are in place, while formulating an account plan alongside tracking actions and their outcomes. 
  • Manage account profiles, which encompass volume history, competitive activity, product mixes, sales trends, shelf space and position, new items, and display penetration development.
  • Work with Customers and brokers/vendors to integrate Chex products/programs into customer ad programs, promotions, displays, and marketing programs. Utilize company best practices and provide recommendations to continuously improve processes and programs. 
Business Development 
  • Collaborate with VP of Sales to prospect, develop, and close key account sales leads. Manage pipeline against new business development goals and budget 
  • Ensure that all company sales leads are followed up on through prompt, professional sales solicitation, and follow-up. 
Skills
  •  The successful candidate is committed to building authentic and committed relationships, with a successful track-record of managing grocery and key account headquarters. Candidate must have had primary responsibility for making sales presentations to buyers, category manager and senior level managers. 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 8-12 years of Key Account sales experience. Previous sales experience in retail or foodservice businesses, distribution or consumer products industries is required. 
  • Candidate exhibits consistently high standards of integrity, embraces change, and leads with purpose.
  • Demonstrated passion for the grocery business and building categories and developing emerging brands.
  • Excellent listening skills, time management and organization skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong sales closing skills and the ability to execute sales strategy, and implementation. of practices, and procedures. Excellent attention to detail and follow through.
  • Excellent fact-based selling and analytical skills that leverage sales analysis to identify opportunities within categories, brands and items and closing distribution voids. 
  • Strong MS-Office skills: Excel, Power Point, and Word and CRM management.
  • Experience in distribution or sales brokerage is a plus, but not required.
