POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lab Coordinator job is integral to the complete process for refinement of oils and/or other concentrates to produce products for the Company, while adhering to technical and regulatory compliance with all laws governed by the California Department of Food & Agriculture, California Bureau of Cannabis Control, California Department of Public Health, and any other applicable regulatory agency.

Responsibilities

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with company effort[s] as it pertains to the Refined Live Resin and Live Resin production processes, while adhering to strict regulatory compliance as it pertains to health & safety, good manufacturing standards, such as maintenance and sterilization of equipment and laboratory conduct regarding processing of raw materials
  • Oversee multiple specialized teams of technicians ensuring efficient production and regulatory compliance
  • Facilitate the processing of raw materials, including preparation and cleaning of workstations
  • Keep all workstations organized and sanitized at all times
  • Timely completion of maintenance logs, sample/test results, printing labels, weights and measures logs, and other necessary reports
  • Prepare and test samples under the direction of department supervisors
  • Maintain functional knowledge of all laws governing the industry and engage in regular self-development to ensure timely knowledge of new and improved methods
  • Compile and analyze data, making recommendations to process improvements based on the findings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or inherent to the position

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Organizational skills. Ability to coordinate tasks in order of priority, while effectively multi-tasking as it relates to the extraction process.
  • Communication skills. Ability to maintain clear and concise communication with supervisor, co-workers, and other departments.
  • Adaptability. Flexibility to adjust an approach or response to changes with applicable regulations and/or process challenges under the direction of department supervisors.
  • Accountability. Ability to take ownership of tasks and other responsibilities. Effectively self-manage during times of autonomous work.
  • Precision. Ability to apply scientific technique and exactness to the extraction process for production of cannabis oils and/or other concentrates in a laboratory setting.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Required:
  • 2+ years as an extraction or laboratory lead in the cannabis industry or related field
  • Bachelor's of Science or equivalent degree from an accredited university
  • Functional knowledge and practical use of Microsoft Office systems (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and other MS Tools) and Google Sheets
  • Functional knowledge and practical application of extraction methods, preparation and purification of cannabinoids
  • Functional knowledge of California cannabis regulations, specifically as it pertains to cultivation and manufacturing
  • Must be 21 years of age (or older) at the time of hire
  • Proficiency of the English language, verbal and written format.


Desired:
  • 2+ years of experience in post-processing of cannabis oils
  • 4+ years in a laboratory setting
  • Proficiency of the Spanish language, verbal and written. No specific dialect
  • Advanced knowledge of google office suite (Word, Sheets, etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods at a time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is essential to this position. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, preferably utilizing partner lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily in a laboratory environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low; however, fluctuation of noise level may occur during peak production. The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate; however, fluctuation of temperature, either decreasing or increasing (heat level) is likely to occur during peak production.

Weekend or evening work may be required.
