LOCATION

NEW YORK, NY - This position will begin working remotely and transition into the office when conditions permit.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Commercial Strategy Manager is a key business partner to senior U.S. commercial leadership. In this capacity, s/he supports the commercial leadership teams and through strategic analysis actively challenges them to drive improved planning and performance management to ultimately grow the company’s profitability. This leader is empowered and expected to critically analyze the competitive environment and the company’s situation and actions, and influence stakeholders to adopt the most appropriate course of action.

This leader will have the highest level of exposure to the CEO, the President US Sales and commercial teams, together with the Executive Team; and be a part of all key conversations with our distributors. The position reports to the VP Commercial Strategy & Business Projects. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning
  • Together with the US commercial team, set Long-Term Commercial Strategy to drive profitable growth
  • Participate in all Annual Planning conversations, helping set the granular budgets and execution plans (by channel, SKU, market, etc.) to the land strategic growth vision and monitor them through the year
  • Prepare updated intra-year volume, sales and financial forecasts
  • Actively develop and participate in the monthly global S&OP Demand Forecasting process to influence production decisions

Performance Management
  • Enhance monthly reporting process to ensure plan achievement through analysis and identification of key business insights to determine key action items for management focus
  • Manage on-premise sales execution through data deep-dives, investment analysis, and providing target accounts by key segment in line with overall company strategy
  • Analyze and optimize inventories
  • Manage the financial review and tracking of trade marketing spend and distributor initiatives (e.g., pricing support, incentives, etc.) and, post-implementation, analyze results to develop learnings for other markets and opportunities
  • Develop strategic presentations for the Board of Directors, investors, commercial partners, and clients

Data Management
  • Build and maintain scorecards and dashboards for regular monitoring of KPIs and business objectives
  • Assume responsibility for maintenance of data files on depletions, shipments, customer segmentation, pricing (Casa Dragones and competitors), and trade marketing activities
  • Ensure consistency across data sources; reconcile differences via deep dives into data sources
  • Standardize and automate reporting to distribute on a weekly and monthly basis, creating viewpoints that enhance ability to derive key business insights
  • Manage VIP-Karma system by providing dashboards and outputs to Sales Team and act as a resource with respect to questions about how to use
  • Ad-hoc sales administration assistance (e.g., price posting, control state regulation)
  • Support the team with strategic customer and distributor presentations

Business Development
  • Work with Sales in the development and evaluation of commercial initiatives with a commercial finance mindset, modeling the profitability of different alternatives; and analyze results to develop learnings for other markets and opportunities

Pricing
  • Maintain centralized state price grids and deal level calendar
  • Develop P&Ls by state-pack-deal level
  • Manage execution guidelines for suggested pricing (price structure with distributors), merchandising and promotion to achieve distribution, velocities and volume goals

Casa Dragones is a fast-paced luxury Start-up company where roles are flexible to meet company needs.

The position may require travel (~15%) to support key sales markets and for projects as required.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA degree in Business or related field (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in the Spirits Industry (minimum 2 years of experience required)
  • Experience with VIP tools such as iDIG & KARMA (minimum 2 years of experience required)
  • Experience with SGWS tools such as Compass & SalesNav (minimum 1 year of experience preferred)
  • Experience with consumption information such as IRI or Nielsen (minimum 1 year of experience preferred)
  • Experience implementing data visualization solutions
  • Highly skilled in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven analytic problem-solving ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task; plan, organize and structure work
  • Self-starter, proactive, thrives in a dynamic & fast paced environment
  • Spanish language proficiency a very strong plus
