About The Position
JOB TITLE:  Assistant Controller
LOCATION: Administrative Office, Galesburg, MI / Remote Option Available
REPORTS TO:  Controller
FLSA POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Salaried Exempt
 
POSITION SUMMARY: Serves as a financial leader in the Finance department. The Assistant Controller will work collaboratively with all levels of the organization to continuously improve processes, communicate financial information, and produce financial reports.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
·       Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery

·       Works closely with Controller in the operations of producing accurate and timely month-end close and financial reporting
  • Performs analysis and periodic financial results and general ledger accounts to support monthly / quarterly / year-end analysis
  • Oversees fixed asset accounting, monthly reconciliation, and reporting
·       Analyzes historical and projected financial and operational information, with the goal of delivering actionable recommendations for improvement to operations
  • Provides supporting schedules and data for company-wide costs
·       Provides leadership to the Senior Financial Analyst in analyzing costing rates, producing accurate costing models and efficiency reporting, that can be relied on within the production facilities
  • Assists with managing inventory processes to ensure accurate reporting
·       Works collaboratively with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to develop meaningful reporting insights into business performance
·       Assists Department Managers as needed in building annual budgets and quarterly forecasts while also evaluating previous budgets
·       Perform adhoc analysis within the Finance Team and assist management teams with special projects to support strategic decision making
·       Keeps up to date and utilizes knowledge of compliance regulations
·       Reviews existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvements efforts for Finance team
·       Maintains department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and audits processes to develop/implement new SOPs.
 
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
·       MS Office products; including Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point 
·       Familiarity and experience with ERP systems (such as Microsoft AX and D365)
·       Budgeting and Planning systems experience (Vena)
·       General Office Equipment (i.e.: copy, fax, scanner and postage machines)
 
IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
·       Strong time management skills with a proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
·       Self-directed individual who is a team player
·       Significant analytical skillset, including the utilization of BI and reporting tools
·       Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and presentation
·       Able to comprehend multifaceted fiscal models
·       Strong attention to detail
·       Flexibility and adaptability to an ever changes environment
·       High level of integrity 
·       Ability to analyze and translate data 
·       Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP Software, or similar
·       Proficient with Excel
 
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field
·       Professional qualification such as CA, CPA or CFA
·       Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a production field working in finance
·       Prior experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX (or comparable ERP software) is a plus
·       Prior experience with Budget, Planning and Reporting software (Vena or comparable equivalent)  a plus
·       Moderate level of craft beer product knowledge.
