State Manager II - AZ/NM

Role Responsibilities

The State Manager II - AZ/NM is responsible for managing the end-to-end commercial business for an expansive geography. This role will oversee all aspects of sales for the region including account management, pricing, local marketing, activation, budgeting, distributor management and any other activities germane to the geography's business. Additionally, this role will lead the strategic plan for the assigned geography and build business across chain, off premise and on-premise accounts while partnering and managing the relationship with the state's key distributors. She/he will leverage leadership, vision, support and effective resource allocation to ensure all company goals are attained and will deliver a collaborative business plan for long-term growth.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Meet and exceed the company's volume, profit and sales objectives
  • Actively manage the presentation and execution of category plans, brand plans, promotions and new item introductions ensuring compliance with Company Brand Standards at all times.
  • Promote and maintain a positive rapport with customer and distributor executives to maximize potential opportunities, identify customer needs and further develop key initiatives
  • Drive a customer-focused culture and exploit new market opportunities
  • Communicate with the Beam Suntory Regional Leadership Team regarding opportunities for growth
  • Establish annual, quarterly and monthly sales targets, and monitor the results taking necessary actions to improve performance and provide innovative approaches for success
  • Develop cross-functional, internal partnerships with key functional disciplines to ensure company resources are focused to maximize marketplace opportunities
  • Create, execute, and evaluate sales promotion plans, utilization of market development funds and merchandising ideas, while ensuring execution, review and tracking of all plans and programs

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will include supervising a team. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide consistent training, support, and mentorship to team
  • Effective, fair, and consistent performance management
  • Fairly and consistently ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Drives impactful results with integrity
  • Knowledgeable in/on Local and state laws

Qualifications & Experience

Must reside in Arizona.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • 10+ years in sales and marketing
  • Finance degree preferred
  • Progressive management experience in the alcoholic beverage industry, including state, channel, and on and off premise
  • Prior experience in managing a team
  • Previous industry experience, at distributor, another supplier

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period(s) of time and view computer screen
  • Ability to travel 25%of time
  • Lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling of up to 45 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and typing
  • Possess a license to drive motor vehicles
