Role Responsibilities

Beam Suntory is a manufacturer and distributor of spirits, with annual net sales in excess of $4 billion, with over 40% of sales from the North America market. This role will assist in the controls and shared accounting organization for the North America Supply Chain function, including operations within manufacturing and warehousing facilities. The role will work directly with Supply Chain Finance North America Controller. The position will lead teams responsible for reporting and analyzing financial results for North America Supply Chain in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, accounting principles and corporate accounting policies and procedures. Oversee and/or complete the preparation of standard monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting schedules required to meet the Company's various internal and external (to Suntory Japan parent company) reporting requirements.

Working with finance and operation functions within Supply Chain, review the control environment and lead efforts to address identify deficiencies and drive continuous improvement.

Financial Close, Analysis and Reporting
  • Manage the North America Supply Chain financial close completion monthly.
  • Complete close schedules, flux analysis and financial analysis to meet t he North America Supply Chain reporting requirements (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual).
  • Review Supply Chain local unit submissions and consolidated North America Supply Chain financial statement roll-up to ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance of Supply Chain financial statements with US GAAP/IFRS requirements.
  • Review and/or prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.

Controls and Risk Management
  • Provide technical leadership to Supply Chain functions and locations to implement effective and efficient controls.
  • Support/coordinate entity specific internal and external audits. Define, implement and track resolution of all control deficiencies and audit comments.
  • Define, review, update, execute and communicate consistent policies and procedures across locations (as appropriate).
  • Maintain risk control matrices across locations and facilitate review/updates with control owners.
  • Complete segregation of duty and/or mitigating control reviews to verify no conflicts exist or are mitigated appropriately.

Special Projects and Other Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the plant based, hourly payroll team.
  • Financial Close Efficiency and continued development of a Center of Excellence for North America Supply Chain shared accounting activities.
  • Visitor experience accounting processes and oversight.

Team and People Management
  • Mentor a team of at least two direct reports on their responsibilities and career development.
  • Actively participate in the performance review and development processes.
  • Lead training / orientation sessions with finance / reporting teams.
  • Effectively work across Finance and Operational teams throughout the organization.

Forecasting and Annual Budgeting
  • Participate as necessary in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, especially for non-production locations.
  • Build and lead support organization budgets, actuals and forecasts.
  • Provide annual guidance to the locations for spending inputs.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, Statutory and Management Reporting, and SEC regulations and keeps pace with changes in standards
  • Manages and drives improvement with relationships with other departments, and understands details of key collaboration with other groups
  • Sets a positive Control tone and influences others to do the same. Leads by example.
  • Recognizes and understands the need for overall process governance and ensures work standards and compliance are aligned to company guidelines
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Previous managerial responsibility required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills.
  • SAP, Business Intelligence and Microsoft Office application experience required.
  • Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay and/or Product Costing background preferred.
  • Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) experience a plus.
