About The Position
Barrell Craft Spirits is a small company that is taking a fast and progressive growth path and we’re looking for an enthusiastic salesperson to join our team in Nashville or Chicago.
Barrell Craft Spirits, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is an independent blender and bottler of unique, aged, cask strength sourced whiskey and rum, increasingly being recognized for its blending expertise. We design, produce, and launch Spirits with a focus on what people want now and not what has been successful in the past. This affords us access to some of the most interesting and delicious spirits in the world.
 
Our goal is to select and blend products that explore different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments, and bottle them at cask strength. Every batch is produced as a limited release and has an intentionally distinct flavor profile.


Job Title: Brand Development Manager
 
Reporting to the National Director, the Brand Development Manager is responsible for sales, brand image, and building key relationships for the company to achieve sales goals. We’re looking for someone who has sales experience working with/for a Spirits, Wine or Beer Distributor. We also prefer if you have had experience with premium wines or craft spirits. You’ll be on the road at least 50% of the time – working with sales distributors, and meeting with on and off-premise accounts. This is a great job for someone who is enthusiastic, has a lot of energy and likes interacting with people. 
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Identify and execute a plan to most cost effectively achieve quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Manage 50 key target accounts in the home territory; develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers
  • Assist retail accounts with sell-through whenever and however possible
  • Train distributor sales people and evaluate distributor execution against our initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with distributor sales division; maintain regular ride-with schedule with distributor sales
  • Present at distributor Portfolio days and general sales meetings
  • Execute virtual, in-store and on-premise tastings which may involve evening and weekend work and execute product seminars at accounts 
  • Build brand awareness and ensure strong sell-through/depletions of portfolio as well as introduce new products and promotions to all accounts
  • Become an expert in the market, identify opportunities that the brand might have missed otherwise
  • Suggest products and programs that will be successful in your markets
  • Understand specific laws, policies, and practices regarding alcohol distribution in your markets 
  • Plan and execute consistent trips to markets within your extended territory 
  • Travel as needed nationally to execute specific national responsibilities
  • Provide updates to supervisor, including changing field conditions that may affect volumes, as well as staffing changes at distributor
Requirements
  • Two to five years’ experience in alcoholic beverage industry
  • Must have valid driver’s license 
  • Bachelor’s degree required‑preferably in Business Administration
  • Sales experience within a Spirits, Wine or Beer Distributor 
  • Experience working in a 3 tier distribution market
  • Previous experience with IDIG and Karma
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
