About the Role
This role will be a 6-month contract based in Calgary and has the main responsibility for integrating and executing Customer Marketing & Brand execution initiatives across total portfolio within Alberta. It is responsible for executing brand activities across the Retail & On-Premise channels; and requires effective project management to collaborate with: marketing, sales, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (Distributor)

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada as per Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) guidelines. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Regional channel activation planning by channel (Retail & On-Premise).
  • Adapting and executing national activation programs & any local programs or customization of programs for designated brands and customers. 
  • Responsibly for Brand activation (Retail & On-Premise) for AB.  Primary planning & activation lead for defined below activation of brand portfolios.
  • Customize and adapt strategies & programs into key Customer thematics/programs, and leverage shopper/brand insights for effectiveness.
  • Leads channel and customer activation events and all brand Below the Line (BTL) event execution.
  • Manages tactical planning and activation for designated brands.
  • Responsible for innovation commercialization including customer sell-in.
  • Adapt or develop effective, strategic brand point-of-sale material. Order POS material.
  • Lead allocation process & allocations by Brand (where applicable.  i.e.: Whisky Single Malt allocation).
  • Develop channel strategies, channel merchandising standards, KPIs and national brand objectives.
  • Key liaison between regional commercial team and CDN head office.
  • Provide Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits (SGWS) third party sales execution team direction re: programming /assets.
  • Communication lead between internal key account team, head office, and SGWS operation team
Measures of Success
  • Performance: Achieve BCI Net Sales Value (NSV) growth targets vs. budget and EFO target vs. Plan
  • Deliver: Value added strategy/support through initiatives that are adapted within BCI and customer business plans
  • IAP scorecard: Deliver IAP according to plan in Market
  • Customer: Achieve target customer satisfaction measures

Critical Experiences for Success
  • Proven Insights experience related to: Customer Marketing (CM) Below the Line (BLT) activation within a packaged goods consumer product environment. 
  • Brand Management experience is a strong asset. 
  • Proven track record of partnering with customers related to collaborative planning. 
  • Direct involvement in the strategic, as well as tactical aspects of Marketing, with experience successfully partnering with Sales and Marketing in development and execution of annual plans.
  • Proven track record of creating compelling and successful BLT activations tailored to customers as well as well as internal Commercial & Marketing stakeholders.
  • Proven Project Management skills where customer deadlines are front and center. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate and work effectively across functional groups/merchandising partners.
  • Aptitude to think creatively and strategically and translate strategy into operational tactics.  An independent mindset, valuing collaborative decision making, capable of championing ideas with confidence.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others at all levels.
  • Good verbal, written and presentation skills including excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • 5+ years’ experience in developing and executing to CM strategy in a consumer goods environment, preferably in a company recognized for its successful product leadership and execution of CM marketing programs.
  • Highly skilled in complex negotiations, influencing, conflict resolution. 
  • Proven P&L/analytical diagnostics capability.
  • Knowledge of the beverage alcohol industry and experience is a distinct advantage.
  • Business travel may be required.Education 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing as a major is preferred.
